Patriots likely to miss playoffs even if they win out and finish 11-5?

Are the patriots likely to miss the playoffs even if they win out and finish 11-5? This looks like a very real possibility here.

If in the next two weeks:
Dolphins beat SF and KC
Jets beat BUF and SEA

Then the winner of the Dolphins vs Jets game in week 17 will win the AFC East. Baltimore and Indy are both one game ahead of New England for the wildcard, and both hold tiebreakers over New England (Indy H2H, Baltimore by conference record). So the Patriots would have to make up 2 games in 3 weeks on one of these teams to get in, which will be tough.

And even if NYJ or MIA manages to lose one of their next 2 games (I'm seriously scared of SF this week), as long as one of them wins out it looks like the Patriots are gonna be toast, no matter what they do. What do you guys think?

I wish I didn't read this. What concerns me is that NE has to play ARZ. Which ARX team will show up? The one that wants to rest or the one that wants to play to win.

possible is the right word. likely not so much.

it is likely miami loses to sanfran, and it is likely that jets lose to seattle. it is plausible, that buffalo also beats the jets.

It's in New England at 1pm, I honestly can't see Arizona winning that game whether they try or not, but at 10-6 the scenarios where New England makes the playoffs are extremely diminished. I think New England wins out vs OAK, ARI, and BUF, but it might not be enough...

agreed. but, i think zona shows up ready to rest. a seasoned team like indy or nyg would probably try harder as they know resting and taking it easy doesnt really help win in the playoffs. a young team like zona will have a hard time staying focused.

Miami will tell it's defense to come off the field for the last play in OT if Jets have the ball just to screw the Patriots.

Actually, we probably hate the Jets even more, hopefully it doesn't come to that lol

seattle a team, with nothing to lose, willin gto risk and try new things. lost of players playing for their roster spot the next year. if they played as well as they played against the pats, they will make a game out of it against the jets... plus, how many picks has favre thrown in the last few weeks?

not to be a dick, but didnt you have them beating denver and holding them to 14 or less?

just remember seeing that during an in-game thread.
