Patriots super bowl favourites ahead of jets playoff clash

HAVING traded at a high of 15-1 on Betfair, the New England Patriots are now the 7-4 favourites to win this year’s Super Bowl. The Patriots have been in outstanding form, securing a bye into Sunday’s AFC divisional playoff against bitter rivals the New York Jets.

The Patriots are tipped to lift the Vincent Lombardi trophy ahead of the Atlanta Falcons, a 29-1 shot at the start of the season. The Falcons are now available at 6-1 to win Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium in Texas on Sunday 6 February.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers can both be backed at 7-1, while the Chicago Bears are 9-1 to win their first championship in 25 years.

Fresh from their 30-7 defeat of the Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens are 11-1 to add a second Super Bowl victory to their record. Odds of 19-1 suggest the New York Jets have it all to do, while the Seattle Seahawks are unfancied at 74-1.

Betfair’s Richard Bloch said: “With 14 wins and two losses the Patriots boast the best record in the NFL this season. If they can carry that form into the playoffs there’s no reason why they can’t be crowned Super Bowl champions come February.”
