i'm happy to see Mora go......
I'd rather see someone else besides Carroll, given the recent history of collage coaches in the NLF...

Tsmoke>>> it's a NFL job with a owner who has deep pockets and the one of the best training facilities in the NFL plus it's the only sport folks up there really give a chit about... it's a great job as far as NFL jobs go.

Article from the seattle paper and a great writer steve kelly... he hates the decision and is spot on a lot of the time.

I actually think the Seahawks job is a great job. My issue is, I think Pete Carroll is grossly overrated as a coach. Seattle is a tremendous NFL Franchise, though.

Oh there is pressure on him. He has possible violations being investigated and maybe wins being taken away. Not to mention the Pac10 is strong next year and his team is questionable at best to return to form. Plus he hasnt won a natl title in 5 years...there is pressure. There are some that arent exactly sad to see him go

Agree with all your points. There is no way there is no pressure on him in that job. Any top college program is going to be a pressure job.

Do you think he has lost recruiting/coaching advantage he had or do you think the move has more to do with possible infractions coming?

I think the possible infractions coming is big, but I also think he sees now as the opportunity to leave with his legacy somewhat intact. If he comes back next year and they struggle against just to be top 25, people are going to start questioning him. I also think, the recruits he has on this team are not coming together like he thought and they could be average again next season

Totally agree.

Even though he is getting some pressure after the last couple of years, He is still a big fish in a little pond (although that pond is getting bigger and so are some of the other fish!). He goes to Seattle he becomes little fish in a big pond. With his past performance in the NFL, I would have to think that once again he will be in over his head. Personally, I don't think his style is a good fit for the NFL game.

It sure appears that he has been distracted at USC the last couple of years. He never developed a quarterback in preparation of Sanchez leaving, even though he had Mustain and Corp. He threw Corp under the bus this year and put all of his marbles on the unproven, true freshman Barkley, and in doing so basically backed himself into a corner. At this point, with the way he handled the situation with Corp and Mustain, and the way he blindly and over zealously spewed his love for Barkley this season, he put himself in a very tough spot for next year. It is basically do or die with Barkley, or he looks like a fool. Just the way he handled the whole QB situation was very strange this year. They are not in a good spot for next year, and if he is going to leave, now would be the time. With all of that said, I still think USC will be f'ed if he leaves. The last time they played a game for a head coach other than Carroll; they lost to the Irish and finished 5-7. Tied for last in the Pac-10. They will be back to just hoping to get into the Sun Bowl. PAC-10 is going to be tough next year, and you know the rest of the coaches are licking their chops right now, especially Harbaugh and Neuheisel.
