Pro Bowl selections are out

Tom Brady, Michael Vick to start in 2011 Pro Bowl - ESPN Boston

Quote:
Atlanta, which leads the NFC with a 12-3 record, had the most Pro Bowlers with seven, including quarterback Matt Ryan, receiver Roddy White and defensive end John Abraham.

New England (13-2), the AFC leader, had six Pro Bowlers, led by QB Tom Brady, the league's top passer who will make his sixth trip to the game -- providing the Patriots don't make the Super Bowl. The game will be played the Sunday before the title game at Cowboys Stadium.
I find it interesting that the pats have the worst rated defense, yet 4 of the 6 pro bowlers are defenders, including rookie McCourty

really? is that the comment you are going with?
and 4 is just as many as the top 5 defenses combined sent to the pro bowl.

1-10 rating system.

Defense A:
Players 1-4 avg rating 9.25
Players 5-15 avg rating 4.5

Total: 86.5

Defense B:
Players 1-4 avg rating 8
Players 5-15 avg rating 6.5

Total:103.5

i find it interesting that merriweather made the pro bowl despite being benched midway thru the season. That must mean he's good again

is that how you measure defense? LMAO

if the top 4 players are 1 solid corner, 1 solid safety, 1 interior lineman (a nose tackle in this case, prob the most important position for their defensive scheme) and 1 linebacker, then i'll take defense A.

You dont need a collection of greats, you just need a few in key positions with the right qualities.

You take Defense B, i'll stick with A.

well the benching was not all performance, a lot of it had to do with disciplinary, and then he just lost his spot. but i see your point.

more surprising to me is that they named Mankins after he sat the first half of the year.

And you will lose, because your defense is much easier to exploit.

it is/was so easy to exploit that all of the playoff bound teams in the AFC did... oh wait no they didnt.

i understand they have the worst ranked defense, but i do think they are better than their ranking. I would say they are just as good as the average. Which is probably good enough, or at least it has been.

Teams have had success zoom. Not that is matters, but what rankings do you keep referring to anyways ? Do they really have pats as the worst defense ? I don't. I have them at about average.. maybe slightly below.

they are ranked worst on most statistical categories, so overall "defense ranking" is last.
most people keep pointing to it, but IMO a lot of it is due to garbage yards and the first few weeks where the defense was truly atrocious.

teams did have success and i think there are a couple of teams that match up real well (baltimore), but no team has had that much success in a meaningful drive in the last 6 or so weeks.

quad, once you make it you always make it....its the way of the NFL Pro Bowl....kind of like when Derek Jeter starts at SS while hitting .250 with 5 home runs.....
