Random thoughts from the Super Bowl day after...

Rodgers as it stands now is the best QB in the NFL.. The pass he made on 3rd and 10 to Jennings was a dart in a one foot area.. Ike was a finger tip away.. That was money under pressure.. Pitt can hold their head high lost to the better team yesterday.. Ben was horrid... Missing Wallace wide open for a TD in the 3rd quarter that would have put them ahead 24-21.. Cant happen in the SB.. Missed high all day and threw into coverage.. Pitts o-line clocked in with a great job.. Legursky must start at RG next year.. Pitt needs a corner bad to replace BM ... Gay is an inside guy not a starting outside corner.. Pitt is stocked at Wr.. GB will be back next year big time.. All in all very good year for Pitt.. IMO as bad as Ben was I believe his time to shine is coming he just might be growing up on and off the field.. Getting married ( beleive he will this off season) may help him mature.. Redman must get more carries.. With a healthy O-line (and another lineman in the draft) Pitt will become a offensive team with an aging defense taking a back seat... Flozell was a stud and a godsend.. Pitt must sign Ike Taylor even if they have to lose Woodley in the long run (sign Ike.. franchise Woodley for one more year )... Mendenhall is fast becoming a star.. gets a pass on the fumble.. Tip the hat to the Steelers and thank them for a good year.. See ya in Latrobe next year.. To much cash in the NFL now for a work stoppage IMO.. Zig folding away the terrible towel for another year if God sees fit.. almost forgot the Black Eye Peas suck.. Poor kids today dont get to hear actual music being produced.. Without Slash and Usher that would have been a train wreck.. For gods sake if you are going to play FOUR songs to a National audience have enough faith in your own music and not become a cover band.. Zig out..

If the Steelers dont find a receiver that can run routes as opposed to using speed to go deep (wallace, sanders, brown) than they are sunk.....hines is too damn old to be the only legitimate wr they have and wallace proved last night that it is not in his arsenal......talking to a Steeler fan this morning about their need at receiver and he summed it up, "im sure we will just sign santana moss, line him up with the other three, tell them all to go deep, and then wonder why Ben has to scramble for 8 seconds every play"

Steelers weak point has been the same thing all season. DB's need a lot of work. Gay is horrible and I am not so sure that the best place for him is on the bench. Troy is hurt no doubt about it. He could not cut on his ankle at the beginning of the playoffs. I agree that this was a great season for the Steelers. They way over achieved and that is something any fan can be proud of.

totally agree their wide outs are burners that arent the greatest route runners

Their WR are for the most part very young. I believe having Hines around will help them run better routes. This will be a focus coming into next season.

They need to address Oline and secondary before the Wr's imo. Also Ben is a better deep ball thrower than he is timing routes

Brown fits this and Wallace somewhat.. But Sanders runs great routes.. More then a burner... Thats why the last six weeks of the season he took Hines catches for the most part... In the Jets game he beat Cromartie with a sweet crossover move 3 yds off the line ... Crow just tackled him and took the penalty.. Sanders may be the best of the young WR's.. Kid gets open in the mid pass range to much not to run good routes..

If BiG BEN had been 100% the outcome of this game would have been totally different. Its not like he is 5 foot 3 and weighs 120 lbs. Here ya got a guy who is 6 foot 5 and weighs like 240. I am sure his ankle injury played a huge role in his inability to get set and and make accurate passes. Reverse those scenarios, and Rodgers with a gimpy foot, Steelers would have kicked butt.

Really like him.. Last month of the season he was Bens go to guy especially on 3rd down.. Would not be surprised if he takes over the number 2 slot next year.. He was already the defacto number 2 in reality the last six weeks..

He could get to #1 because of his ability to run routes. It will be interesting to see Hines Wards role next season.
