Ed Reed might be the best player on that defense, but Ray might have a bigger impact. I love his intensity though. I'll go with Ed Reed, since we're giving defense a shot here.

Best "all around player"

1. Brian Westbrook

Leader wise and impact - both lewis and manning.

No way is Ray Lewis the best player in the league....In 2006 (the 2007 pro bowl) the Ravens had 3 other linebackers chosen to the pro bowl ahead of Ray Lewis....That year, he was the 5th or 6th best player on his own defense....

There is no doubt he is a leader but he gets vastly overrated because he pops up, unbuckles his chin strap and yells everytime he makes a routine play....It's your job, Ray.....Go back to the huddle....

Here is a short list off the top of my head of players that are better than him right now (in no particular order)....

1. Peyton Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Andre Johnson
4. Ed Reed
5. Demarcus Ware
6. Troy Polamalu
7. Tony Gonzalez
8. Brain Westbrook

As stated by others, Ray Lewis isn't the best player on his own team, Ed Reed is. If you are talking about leaders, no question Lewis is at or near the top of the list, but the question was best player.

Any list of best players that doesn't have Adrian Peterson either at the top or in the Top 3 is ridiculous. Why don't you ask the NFL players who the best player is in the NFL

Here's what Arizona players said about him yesterday

Darnell Dockett said of the Vikings. "They are probably the best running team I have played against my whole career, and they were hungry and desperate. We weren't clicking on no cylinders today."
What made Peterson's day more frustrating to the Cardinals was that they were not exactly blindsided by the gameplan.
"It was not rocket science that their running back was going to get the ball at least 25 times," Dockett said. "I compare their running back to Barry Sanders. I give him his props."
Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson: "He's all-world. If I my son decides to play offense, I am going to tell him, 'Look at the Adrian Peterson tape.' "

Ray makes others around him better. He's having a great season individually, but he plays w/ a bunch of great players. Not so sure he'd be the same on another team...like say the Lions
