Rex Grossman Comes To Houston

Grossman poised to compete for Texans’ No. 2 QB job

Three seasons after starting the Super Bowl for the Chicago Bears, Rex Grossman looks as if he will compete for the No. 2 quarterback job in Houston.

Grossman is taking a physical with the Texans on Thursday afternoon, and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said he expects to finalize a one-year deal tonight. Rosenhaus first reported the development on his Twitter page and later confirmed the progress in a text message.

Grossman wasn’t re-signed by the Bears after a 2008 season in which Kyle Orton replaced him as the starter. Grossman, a six-year NFL veteran with 33 touchdown passes and 35 interceptions in his career, would compete with former Detroit Lions QB Dan Orlovsky to serve as Matt Schaub’s backup with the Texans.

Grossman had weighed opportunities to sign as a No. 3 QB, but he wanted to position himself somewhere he could receive playing time should a starter be hurt. Schaub has missed five games in each of his two seasons as a starter with Houston, and former Texans backup Sage Rosenfels, who started when Schaub was injured, was traded to the Minnesota Vikings this offseason.

I knew he'd catch on somewhere.

He'll be a good guy to play 1 or 2 games a year. I like him a lot more than Rosenfels backing up Schaub.

Nothing to do with bore, my comment was if your team needs either one of these guys your chances of being a serious contender is not very good.

Either way their a backup. Instead of a shit backup you have a former 1st round pick who started a Super Bowl.

All I know is that Rosenfels was GOD-AWFUL filling in for Schaub last year. All I remember is him doing a helicopter and fumbling the ball to allow Indy to cover the spread.

Now I grant you that I remember that play myself and boy oh boy did that game go ugly quickly, lol!!

But having said that Ortons career makes him a 54% completion passer with more interceptions than TDs compared to Sage's 62% completion rate and one more td than interception. Again not very exciting between the two.

Now the real scary part is that you have a team in the Vikings who have the best running back in the game, a very good D especially against the run and unless a QB falls out of the sky it looks like Sage could be the guy they are asking to take them to the promised land behind a coach who looks like he is a deer caught in the headlights when he has to make in game decisions, LOL!!!

if I am Andre Johnson, I hire a 24 hour bodyguard for Mr. Schaub. If Houston has to play Rexy, then Johnson's #'s go down the toilet.

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

I am still amazed this guy does not get more pub. I know if I was an NFL franchise and was looking for a WR to build my team around I think he would probably be my one of my top 2 choices.
