Rodger Goddell trouble down the road

Judge Rodger may have stirred up a mess. Interesting timing to say the least. Someone needs to real rodger back in. It may be time for someone with out an agenda to run this league. I can not wait to see the fall out from this one. Peter King should be proud.

The class in this league does not reside in the NY office. It is in our locker room and ownership.

God took alot of heat the way way he just swept spy gate under the rug in 3 days then burned all the evidence. why bring even talk about bens past investigation during the playoffs. He couldnt wait to tell peter how he did his due diligence on the ben investigations. showing he even did a survey on what other players think. What kind of investigator determines his thoughts from what other players think of a guy? All this has backfired on God, does he not have a labor issue to figure out?

If the labor agreement fails then this guy needs to be kicked to the curb. Maybe he can go be a judge somewhere, oh thats right he isn't qualified for that job either. He has some serious questions coming his way.

Mark Madden weighs in on the subject.......................

Led by the neuroses of Hines Ward, the Steelers have always been good at conjuring up disrespect, whether real or imagined, by way of big-game motivation.

Super Bowl 45 is no exception. But this time, the Steelers have manufactured the oddest of enemies: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated's Peter King, Goodell said he talked to two dozen players about Ben Roethlisberger, none of whom "went to his defense." King incorrectly identified these players as Steelers. He has since corrected.

King's mistake is minor and moot. Why is Goodell volunteering information about the NFL's investigation of Roethlisberger NOW? Wasn't said investigation in-house, confidential and, most important, CLOSED? Doesn't betraying the confidentiality of the investigation's interviews set a horrible precedent? Was Roethlisberger's suspension made more severe because HE WOULDN'T SIGN JERSEYS FOR FOES?

When the "Spygate" saga broke in New England, the NFL had it hushed up WITHIN DAYS. Destroyed evidence, even.

The Roethlisberger incident took place 11 MONTHS AGO. Distasteful as it appeared, it didn't affect the league's competitive balance. Didn't involve cheating. Goodell WON'T LET IT DIE. Why would the commissioner of a pro sports league keep discussing A NOTORIOUS PR NIGHTMARE? That's obviously not what's best for the NFL.

Conspiracy theories are mostly bunk. But how can you not look at Goodell's treatment of the Roethlisberger situation - noting that Ben's four-game suspension was FAR TOO HARSH given that charges weren't filed - and not conclude that Goodell is nurturing a grudge against the Steelers quarterback?

That seems to be what the Steelers have concluded. Hines Ward, James Harrison and Max Starks OPENLY DISRESPECTED Goodell during Super Bowl media sessions. Such mocking would be much more controversial if Goodell weren't so obviously deserving. Harrison asking Goodell to "lay a pillow down where I'm going to tackle them" was ABSOLUTELY HYSTERICAL.

Goodell is a horse's ass, a megalomaniac, a Reichsfuhrer. He has made the commissioner's office a joke, a subject of scorn and ridicule.

And make no mistake, he is the Steelers' enemy.

I will say this about the "spygate" situation....

Since a coach cannot go to the field and play what he brings to the table is his ideas and decisions....with that said taping teams practices is the coaches equivalent to players using steroids.

In my opinion he should have received a similar penalty as those players that test positive. Now that his assistant copied the same practice at Denver it shows corruption at the organization level.

It was no coincidence that Hines Ward arrived here dressed in all black with a cowboy hat and Texas-sized belt buckle, looking like the antagonist in a Wild West shootout.

Where the Green Bay Packers are fan favorites — and giving 2.5 points based the Vegas odds — the Steelers are purposely playing the villain at Super Bowl XLV.

"It's kind of like us against the world — that's the motto we've always had," Ward said with a sly smile. "I guess we're the bad guys."

"Everybody know what it is (Black and Yellow) with Goodell, so guys are going to speak out on that," nose tackle Casey Hampton said. "Guys on this team have put in enough work to where they can voice their opinion. The guys that are saying stuff have been in the league for a long time. How long has he been commissioner?"

"That's how we feel — that nobody wants us to do nothing — and it makes us play better," Hampton said. "Everybody hates on us anyway. That's how we look at it. Every time we're out there, we think everybody is cheating on us, that nobody wants us to win. That's how it's always been, and we just play like that. We play mad. We play like nobody wants us to do good but us, and that works for us."

Well, almost nobody.

"Maybe to you guys we may be the villains or whatever it may be, but there's a million other people out there that's called Steelers Nation that would greatly disagree," Harrison said. "That's the only ones I care about."

"Why?" cornerback Ike Taylor asked. "You get tired of seeing the same people win big games."

"Villain or no villain, we've still got to play this game," Ward said. "What a great feeling if we can win our third Super Bowl in six years."

A greater feeling if Goodell has to grudgingly hand the Lombardi Trophy to one of the "bad guys" like Roethlisberger or Harrison. That should be all the motivation the Steelers need to win a seventh Super Bowl title.

If that happens, here's a suggestion for the commissioner.....

Bring a pillow.

Ah, but the Steelers are wearing White. We all know that IF there is one questionable call in the game (and there will be) that goes against the Steelers, AND the Steelers lose, you Pitt fans will be back in here on Monday, whining your little eyes out,and blaming Goodell. Guaranteed. Do so and expect to get jumped by every decent poster in here.

Win or lose this Steeler fan will handle himself with class. I do not appreciate your attacks and I am sure this post violates the new rules at CM. I am a huge Rodgers. The last Northern California star was Jason Sehorn so Northern Cali is long over due for a sports hero. Chico California is going NUTS right now. As a Steeler fan I am very excited for Rodgers because we seldom get a real sports star in our neck of the woods. Should be a great game.
