Are The Saints In Trouble Or...?

Some people believe that the Saints are in trouble because they lost to Tampa Bay last week. I'm wondering if they could have cared less about winning, but chose to face the Rams or Seahawks this week on an easier path to the NFC Championship game. If they had won, they would be playing at Philadelphia this weekend.

Please post your thoughts.

losing ivory is a blow, but this is the same team that went to atlanta and beat what was considered an unbeatable team at home

so how could the perception be they are in trouble? think you are mistaken

I don't think they are in trouble. I think they didn't want to travel to Philadelphia. They had nothing to gain by winning on Sunday, so they rested their starters. I don't think anyone seriously believed the Falcons were going to lose at home to Carolina.

They will easily beat Seattle in my opinion, and then from that point on, is anyones guess. I really don't think there would be a surprise to anyone regardless who makes the super bowl.

To me, this is why the playoffs are exciting this year, I believe all teams, with the exception of Seattle can be playing in Dallas.

As much as Seattle will try to make a game of it, they won't be able to keep up in a shootout with Brees. Saints 34 Seahawks 20

New Orleans seeding was dependent on Atlanta. There was never a scenario going into that last week where they could face Philadelphia. They could either be the 5 seed (with Atlanta win or 2 seed with Atl loss and NO win).

Throw out all stats out or what happened last week. This is one game and one game only.

I don't think NWO will "downplay" to their opponent as is often said about any team after the fact.

The button was RESET.

Who knows, Brees might get over-confident and turnover 5 snaps.

Exactly. Once it became obvious that the Falcons would win their game, everything else became pointless. If the Saints would have won that game, they still would have played Seattle. How can you say that they intentionally LOST the game, when it did not matter?

the saints will not have it easy this weekend up in seattle...their running game will now take a huge hit, which is seattle's weakness. They will have to deal with a hostile crowd, bad weather and they are traveling on a short week across the country. Not to mention, Seattle moved the ball well against them in the first meeting about a month ago

I agree. Seattle +10.5 is a great value play. That game may be a lot closer than people expect.

Both tampa bay and new orleans were trying their best in the first half, but as link and junkyard said they could have won and still play seattle because it all depended on ATL. If atl would have lost and nor won then they would have been the number 1 seed. Once they found out that atl was not going to lose they took their foot of the gas. At some point in the 2nd half they took out brees. Even with rb thomas and ivory out, if you saw seattle play last week, the saints are not in trouble. IF philly wins this week then they might have a harder time imo playing at atl next week, but if gb wins which is possible I think they have a better chance playing at chicago.

I don't think they are in trouble, but it shouldn't be a big blowout. Saints beat the Niners, Cowboys and Bungles on the road but faield to cover in all of those games. And those were small numbers, now the spread is double-digits.

Seattle cant win unless they face a team that had trouble scoring. No wont have any trouble.

Why does last week matter to so many people?
