SD Chargers coaching questions ?

The Chargers are a team that is being held back by bad coaching. They appeared last night to have terrible tackling skills. They have more talent and are a top 10 team in the NFL. The problem is simple, pick a better coach and move on. rjb, this morning I was trying to get you fired up for a early morning wake up call. I got your blood pumping but what I really want to hear out of you is what about a coaching move ? The problem isn't the athletes its the system. Rivers , LT, Sproles, Gates and Jackson are all top players in the NFL. Then you look at their defense that is loaded with talent yet they appear at time to be either guessing wrong on the blitz packages or coverage schemes. Sorry for the early wake up call this morning I was just trying to get your blood pressure up on Monday Morning. Injuries or not its always been something with this team over the years. I blame the coaching what are your thoughts ? And I believe that any team coming into Hienz Field would have lost last night. Way to much on the line and players were called out and asked to perform. Will be looking forward to SD performance on MNF. That will be a great scale as to where this team will finish. GL

I am not a fan of the coaching staff and never really have been. But I think the defensive talent, at least the front 7, is overrated. They have been man handled in every game this year. No one can beat anyone 1 on 1 and that is a huge problem. Philips, Castillo, Merriman, etc. I'll give Merriman a break since he is injured and coming off surgery, but come on. These guys have to perform better.

Oline is shaky as well. Need to get tougher on both lines. Injuries on Oline are the problem there though. Hardwick is a huge loss!

you can have all the skill position talent in the world

but if you are weak on either line, and especially if you are weak on both lines

you will struggle in this league

I don't care for the coaching staff all that much either, but i agree with caliroots that the problem for the chargers so far this season lies in their O and D lines moreso than the coaching

all those players he named are on offense. the offense is the least of the problems, except early struggles in the redzone, but they will be a top 5 offense this year.

the problem the last 3 seasons has been defense not able to get off the field

you said this in response to my post earlier. Dude Rivers is a fantastic talent and is as good as almost anybody in the league.

Norv as coach is so f-in bad at managing games though. It forces Rivers into ridiculous situations every game...i mean how many times does this guy have to throw for 300+ yards and not have that be enough?

Steelers aren't the team they are because of a flashy offense. They win on the lines, both sides. Norv never has understood this for some reason and every year it's the same problems.

sorry sometimes hard to read and figure out what is serious and what's a joke...amazing did I see you post that the chargers are NOT a top 10 team right now????

gotta let the fans of the champs get their due, they get to gloat until they find out pitt isn't good enough to get it done this year. once the cracks in the foundation start...

Nothing here changes my mind that its not coaching. Blame the defense for what, they drafted well and they have a lot of talent. rjb says that they need to get the defense off the field, that means the offense needs to get first downs and they need to stop teams on 3rd down. This is all coaching and all things that coaches can change in the game plan. Its a defensive problem but still the offense is not all that with the talent they bring each week.
