shady last series of play in the arizona game

it was funny to me the way he over shot a wide open receiver when his throws were right on but that always happen and the way arizonas rush finally got to rodgers after really not coming close to him the whole half but thats understandable too then the holding call i can see that then the helmet to helmet late hit on rodgers couldnt be any more blatant then the facemask on rodgers when he turned it over i just wanted if anybody else thought this was shady thanks

in watching the replay, you can see the ref in the background watching the hold and not seeing the helmut to helmut. it also seemed the on the fumble he was watching the ball and missed the facemask. imo both were ok no-calls but i did have cards so take that for what it is worth.

it is 100% obv that there was a facemask there...that's what you see when a guy blatanly grabs a facemask to make sure he breaks the ball loose.

like every similar situation you will never know why the ref chose to ignore that and many other calls in that series

but you are not seeing things it was no doubt shady -- but the refs did not cause him to overthrow the pass and if completed, gb won and covered, in that regard it was the pack's fault

based upon how they played after the initial 17-0 there's also little doubt who the better team is...and there is also little doubt that both teams aren't nearly good enough to win it all (imo)

Rodger's head was not tweaked or pulled in any unnatural way, and the defender took rodgers down with his left hand and his feet, not the facemask ( ball was out before too)

you dont call a facemask penalty there under those circumstances

its not shady in slightest

i won't argue those points...but i would argue that the refs sure were sure they had it exactly right with no need for a replay or anything else, all i'm saying...game is long over

Is anyone else tired of looney "game is/was/could-have-been-fixed" threads?

Peter King addressed this today

Ref's sole responsibility is following the loose ball, since he was watching the ball come loose and that happened BEFORE the facemask, nothing was shady there at all

Ref would have actually not have been doing his job if he would have been focusing on the facemask part of it

i'll accept that as i am not very well read on the rulebook

i did not in anyway think the game was fixed or influenced. GB went down because of their own mistakes -- 2 in fact in the first 5 minutes. the fact that they came back, the FG was missed, they got the ball in OT and then failed to complete an open pass for the win is THEIR fault

but the last play had a lot going on...just more evidence imo that they should have replays on those type of plays. not because it was called wrong, simply because everybody involved feels better if it is reviewed. same as college...they review a lot of those types of plays and it only helps to look at it again.

never tired though of the fix discussions. they happen quite a bit.

the only fix discussion worthy of that game however was to argue that the missed FG was on purpose -- that I could believe.

Missed calls happen all the time, it is part of the game. As MLB put it, that's the human aspect of the equation. The NBA ref miss fouls all the time. Only one thing matters now, 51-45.....
