Exclamation Should Rex Ryan be on the hot seat???

All he does is play games, use gimmicks, and make phony guarantees....sure he has some AFC title game appearances but those only take you so far, just ask Donovan McNabb.

Is Rex the right guy in New York? I think he should be on the hot seat along with his QB.

Thoughts?

Don't forget thats 2 AFC Championship games in Rex's first 2 years in NY and his first 2 as a head coach anywhere. Not sure many coaches can make that claim, if any. Don't compare that with McNabb's 10+ years in Philly.

I believe Rex has earned some credit off the last 2 seasons that 2 losses in 4 days will not take away. If the Jets miss the playoffs, which is looking probable at this point, maybe then the NY media has a field day, but not until season's end, if then.

Not sure what gimmick plays your talking about. If you mean that they blitz 33% of the time because they do not have good pass rushers...ok. Yeah he has a big mouth. If he gets the Jets to another AFC Championship game who cares.

I don't think Ryan is the Jets problem. Jets offense, in particular the offensive line and the QB are playing horrible. Rex's defense coupled with a decent offense would lead to W's.

The other thing is any players I have ever heard speak on it, have said they want to play for Ryan. So who cares what anyone else thinks of him.

I dont think it was a smart game plan. He said before the game the Jets defence would carry them and they did but he has Sanchez throwing too much. Sanchez has regressed this season and this is the type of team you gotta beat. Just run the ball and play for field postion which Denver did. Easy for me to say after the fact but I seriously thought thats what he would do because I played Sanchez passing under on some prop bets. IMO Coaches hardly ever win games but they can sure lose em and this ones on Rex.

its seriously the most ridiculous, effeminate nfl observation Ive heard from you yet

not only do his players love him, hes really a good coach, especially considering its only his 3rd year coaching

now sanchez yeah hes not good, I used to think he could only get better, but hes getting worse

but Rex is definitely not on the hot seat

gimmicks? he plays old school football, nothing gimmicky about that

guarantees? that might rub non jet fans the wrong way, but its called confidence, and part of the reason his players love him

come thru or not, its just words, media plays

they know he believes in them

jaysus christ what a dumb thread

No, he should not be in the hotseat at all.
This only seems like a bad season because his last 2 (first 2) were so good.

Sanchez though.... they should bring in talent next year in preparation for the possibility sanchez is not the guy and I don't believe he is the guy. If the Jets had a good QB they would be insane.

The Jets have had great teams the last 2 years. They lost some good players in the offseason and it shows. Their only problem is they don't have a good player at the main position, Quarterback. They took a gamble on Sanchez and it is not paying off for them. I'm starting to think a QB from USC or PAC 12 for that matter are not good NFL QBs!!

i think this is a good thread and glad cap brought this up

rex is waaaay over-rated, period .. and deserves to be talked about in the hot seat situation

a real good coach doesnt talk shit and help paint a huuuge bullseye on his players chest week to week and thats all he does .. and its biting him in his fat ass with a .500 record this season

Talking about the stupidity in his personality.....if you think the Jets are going to another AFC title game anytime soon you might want to take another look.

All the players love him huh? You involved in locker room conversations and fully understand the "spin" that players put on topics just like the media? I haven't seen any "old school" football. He allows a sub par QB to throw the ball 30-40 times a game, that isn't "old school" football. He has completely gone away from ground and pound and it's probably because the rest of the league is throwing it like crazy. Regardless of injuries, Rex has put too much of the responsibility on Sanchez and that's a huge mistake. Confidence? You thing guaranteeing Super Bowls and what not is a sign of confidence? It's more like a guy trying to be a smart a$$ and using a kindergarten motivational technique.

The guy is going to wear out his welcome if he keeps going with Sanchez....congrats, they went to two AFC title games. Let me know when you start getting Lombardi Trophies when you win Divisional playoff games.

Rex runs his mouth but his players love him, that you can see in any interview, they play hard for him especiallu those guys on his defense, I think the biggest guy to go is going to be Schontenheimer, his game plans are average at best and he is just not getting it done with the guys on that offense, That offense has alot of talent, Holmes and Burress are both legit, Greene is an Average to above avergae back, LT still is productive on thirs down Keller is an average to above avergae tight end, and the O-Line is above average so that leaves the QB, he is below average we can agree on that but it is up to the Coachs to develop a game plan that works for him, I put that on the O-coordinator, I mean just look at Denver, Tebow is not a true NFL pocket passer yet they are 4-1 with him, they have a "system" that works for them and they just put it in, they Jets have had 3 years with Sanchez he has to be playing better and be more comfortable than he looks right now....

Everything you say here is true, to some extent

but none of it add up to being on the hot seat
