This will be Cincinnati's first game in a few seasons with the temperature under 40 degrees F.

Just comparing wind speeds... Does 11-15 mph winds affect a thrown ball?

well sure.. but it all depends.. is the wind blowing across the field, or is it across the field.. if it is across the field this is much easier for the QB as they know the the wind is with them or against them, and are able to change their passes accordingly.. when it is blowing across the field it is much more difficult to gauge..

A very interesting book I suggest you read if your interested in the dinamics of football and how the game really works, is Football Physics By Timothy Gay.. it is a very interesting book, and in a part of the book he touches upon wind, and how it effects the outcome of a game..

It also matters about the location of the field and where abouts it is in relevance with the sea level, for example Denver is a mile above the sea level, so a 20mph wind there is much different than a place like Pittsburgh at 20mph. An interesting fact that I took out of the book, and that has stuck with me was that with a headwind of 20mph at sea level, reduces a balls range that is 40 yards with no wind, to 20 yards.

I also remember there being an interesting diagram explain the physics of the wind and how it effects the ball at different trajectories.

Another interesting fact I came about, just a cool little football tidbit..
Quote:
over 90% of football fields are set up with the end zones directed north to south; so, though it would be best to learn about each field individually, you will be correct most the time if you assume north/south wind will be blowing from end zone to end zone while east/west will be cross-field.

But... TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.. 10-15mph, will have little to no effect on the passing game..

BROWNS Steelers winds were HIGH 30 - 50 MPH hurricane type winds

11 MPH - 15 does effect the trave; of the ball so comibed with snow blowing araound expect steelers to sty with ground game and short passes cincy also same thing

CINCY Covers the fat 11 Point spread Steelers win to stay at TOP of divison !

From what I saw on the NFL network who is there live in Pittsburgh, the field is covered in snow & its cold, but I dont see any snow falling. My guess is the storm is already over & maybe just traces of flurries which wont affect anything else.
