Good day Ladies and Gentlemen:

A tough night at the office for us last night as all 3 dogs fell short with Philly losing in a wild and woolly affair, the Islanders deciding to only play one period, the third, and fell 2 goals short and the Leafs were simply out of gas and controlled by Phoenix all night long.

We now sit down 3.3 units on the week as we tap into the NFL playoff market with two investments and with no friday pucks for us, Saturday's will be forthcoming.

Let's get to the gridiron action shall we.

Saturday, January 15th:

take: Pittsburgh Steelers -2.5 (buy half pt down) -130....3 units...vs Baltimore Ravens, game time is 4:30 p.m. e.s.t......These two teams always provide an entertaining matchup with the last 4 meeting decided by a field goal in each one. However, Pitt has had 13 days off to prepare for this game, Baltimore is coming into Pitt on 6 days off, this is a decided edge for the hometown Black and Gold. Add in the fact that while both defences lay claim to battle tested, talented stop units, Pittsburgh again leads in every key category on defence vs their foes. On the other side of the ball, it's a two time Super Bowl champion quarterback who was clicking the final couple weeks and on the final week put up 41 pts at Cleveland and looked as good as he has all year after missing the first 6 games. That Cleveland win was telling in that Baltimore in a must win situation to keep pace for a playoff berth struggled at Cleveland getting by them 20-10 in the 2nd to last week, then on the final week struggled vs Cincy at home, barely winning 13-7. Joe Flacco is not a proven QB yet and to ask him in this situation at Pittsburgh against this rested and healthy defence to get the job done is not a prudent option. Although we like Baltimore last week vs an outclassed opponent like KC, this week is a different story as the proven Pittsburgh defence with better numbers and big playmakers along with a proven QB and offence that looked in sync down the stretch at home gets the nod here to cash in again in the playoffs where they are rested and 7-1 ATS their last 8 playoff games. Pittsburgh -2.5 it is for 3 units.

take: Green Bay Packers +127...2 units...at Atlanta Falcons, game time is 8 p.m. e.s.t....In what proves to be probably the 2nd most entertaining game of the weekend also falls on a Saturday and we are on it as well like last week, the Packers to win outright. The Falcons at home are certainly a tough out, thus the reason we are 2 units on this and not 3, but Green Bay matches up well here and to me are the better team despite the overall records of these two teams. Atlanta has lived a charmed life this year in that their record may not have been as good as it is if not for a few happen-stance plays and good fortune on their part on more than one occasion. However, that aside, Green Bay comes in with Aaron Rodgers and a defence that is playing really as good as the aforementioned Steelers right now and have improved drastically this 2nd half of the season. Rodger's shredded up the Falcon's very average secondary in a 20-17 loss earlier this year, but Green Bay lost the game due to a special team's blunder late in that tilt. If Green Bay can get running from Starks like they did last week, they can expose this team even moreso as the Falcon's defence is not a staunch unit by any stretch. A lot of edges in Green Bay's favorite here but home field, but they certainly are the play here for us. Green Bay outright, 2 units on the moneyline.
