THE Sports PROFIT....NFL WildCard Sunday

Sunday, January 9th:

take: Baltimore Ravens -2.5 -115 (buy half pt down)...2 units....at Kansas City Chiefs, game time is 1 p.m. e.s.t....Does KC belong in the playoffs, absolutely, they won their division, that is a ticket to the post season. Does it mean this team is really at the quality level of the other playoff contenders (excluding Seattle)....absolutely not. Yes, the argument goes, they only can beat who they play, but this team had a very easy schedule and when they did face team(s) (other than choking san diego)....whom were of the quality nature (see playoff team).the only one by the way, they lost by 10 pts and at home, that was to Indy, and the school's out on whether they are a quality team this year. Yes they also played Seattle, a playoff team, yes, quality no. Otherwise, they played every possible stiff in the league. When San Diego got a second chance against them after giving them the first game, they bombed them 31-0 in a game that was a fight for the division at the time. Some showing. KC has lived a charmed life this year and it stops Sunday. Baltimore, while not the D of old, is still a worthy opponent, but more importantly, is experienced on defence and in this situation in the role of being a playoff road warrior, are very battle tested. They don't win big, and they don't win pretty, but they win and that's all we need in this spot is a field goal win to cash. Baltimore once again gets the job done. 2 units at -2.5.

take: Green Bay Packers +130....2 units....at Philadelphia Eagles, game time is 4:30 p.m. e.s.t.......They say defence wins Championships, and while that old adage hasn't entirely rang true with a few offensive teams capturing titles the past few years, at least for this game it does ring true. Green Bay's defence is somewhat of an underrated unit that has performed extremely well down the stretch after an early slow start that raised questions about the personnel on that side of the ball as possibly being Green Bay's achilles to any hopes of success this year. However, that has been rectified and the alarmists silenced, and while the offence sputtered at times, it was this Packers' D that gave this team a chance to win the tight games and more times than not they did. Now they face a team who defence really is the achilles to it having any big success long term. The Eagles' defence is perceived as a fast, side to side speedy bunch that blitzes the he** out of teams with great success, but that perception is built on the past and we are in the present. What this group is, is still a blitzing unit that gets burned more than makes big plays, is a poor tackling bunch and the defensive front is not a big group that will stuff an opponent. Both offences have more than enough talent but Aaron Rodgers and his pocket presence with big play receivers who make plays after the catch have an edge over Vick and company, but the Gbay Defence has a bigger edge. Edge on offence and defence makes Green Bay a tasty investment here at a nice price to win outright. 2 units on Green Bay moneyline.

strong consideration:
Baltimore/KC Under 41
Green Bay/ Philly OVER 46

cheers, PROFIT

Prof, to be fair KC lost in Indy, not at home. They also held Manning to 0 TDs that week, and while they may not be up to par yet with most of these teams, they are easily the most improved team in the league this year. They're a confident young group and they're only getting better.

That being said, I'm with you on the Ravens. GL brother
