i think thats true only when you're a dick. for example, bonds was a good player but he is a dick. people love to bring him down. on the other hand tony gywnn was a great player AND a nice guy. the press has never shown him in a negative light. so this means bellichek is a dick

that is: if it matters to the person deciding that the person in question is a dick in his opinion. (i think we're making a real sociological break-through here. )

There is no rule that says you have to be nice to the press to get fair press. Wisely, Billy B has managed to stay away from spats with the press becase he simply gives them nothing. But guess what? Most players dont give the press shit either.
