Suh Fine/Penalty for hit on Cutler

Suh being fined $15,000 for this hit on Cutler in Sundays game which gave the Bears 15 yards and a first down. They scored a TD on the next play...

What do you think about this penalty and the resulting fine? Interested in opinions on this...

Watching it real time, it looked like an agressive hit - watching it in slow motion replay it shouldn't have been flagged. I don't fault the referee for throwing the flag, in real time it looked vicious and they are paid to enforce the league's rules. Was probably a bad call in hindsight, but bad calls happen, and you can't use replay for every single penalty.

But to fine him after the fact, with benefit of a replay, is a joke

Not to mention the horse collar they called on Suh in the Dallas game when he took Barber down by his hair. That was BS and gave Dallas a TD when it was a 3 point game.

Or the offensive pass interference on Pettigrew against New England late in the 3rd quarter in a 7 point game with the Lions driving....

It doesn't matter, they aren't good enough this year to do anything, but they have seen the bad end of rules/refs the entire year it seems.

Oh the life of a Lions fan.....lol

I was on the lions all of those games you mentioned...and remember the exact plays. Total screwjobs...I was less than pleased. At least the lions covered this one, the previous ones they didnt. Blowing td leads at halftime

That ref is scared shitless...

He is confused, ref's throwing flags because God has them all scared..they dont even understand the rules

Bad calls are happening more and more and it will only get worse.

The refs are afraid to get fined for not throwing flags, They just dont make any of the ref's fines public knowledge......The Refs are getting fined all the time..........and they dont make shit, they dont make pooh..we just dont here about any of this.....

I was watching this game and thought the exact same thing when I saw it. I honestly thought if refs could have looked at replay, they would have reversed the call, but obviously they couldn't. But to now fine him is totally ridiculous!!!

Ways NFL games are Won:

1)Offence
2)Defence
3)Special Teams
4)Refs and Video Replays....refs have become too involved in football now..seems like every game this season has come down to sum bullshit video review, or the refs throwing yellows around like candy on halloween

This is not about the refs, this is about the league issuing a fine for a hit that was not as bad as it looked after viewing on replay. If I am a Lion fan, I could live with the penalty in the game, but to fine him is ridiculous!!!

It did'nt cost Detroit the game. They could of stood up and played some D and forced a tying fg attempt.Bottom line is this,as stated it looked pretty bad live thus the flag. All he had to do was make a tackle and go for a strip instead of trying to drive his head through the turf!Do that and there is NO FLAG!

Yeah, because nobody in the NFL ever tries to put a hard, legal hit on a player from another team.

The point of the thread wasn't to debate the penalty though, agree it looked rough in real time. Just can't believe he was fined $15,000 for it today.

They are going to cost someone a trip to the playoffs or a trip to the superbowl . This new rule has to be called by an official from the box. The only reason a ref should have thrown a flag on that play is so that Cutler could have something to wipe his ass with so the ref could have something to lick on for the rest of the game.
