Things I have learned about the NFL through week 5

1. There is no elite team this year. Every team is beatable on any given day. Mediocrity league wide.

2. Mediocrity for the refs, would be a huge upgrade. Some of the rules are flawed, I understand that, but holding calls are up 35% over last year. Thats a huge increase in just a year. And I think there have been more than handful of terrible calls, some of which have cost teams games. Happened in years past, but with this being a huge focal point over the past few years, think it would improve, and it hasnt.

3. The kickers are getting WORSE! I cant remember even seeing so many missed fgs, 40 yards or in. Think it has to do with the fragile minds of these bitch ass kickers.

4. The great offensive minds of the NFL (Martz, Payton, Garrett, etc.) arent so great. Play calling league wide has been poor. I am shocked that these guys refuse to work to the strengths of their teams, ie. Garrett running the football. But hey what do I know, these are the "great" offensive minds right.

5. Injuries on the rise, concussions in particular and I dont know why. I am not sure if the coaches are babying these players and holding them out for things they wouldnt in the past, or protecting their long term investments, I dunno could guess all day.

6. Lastly, this has clearly become a QB league. QBs are putting up HUGEEEEE numbers every week. The reason, the rules are widely in their favor. Cant touch the QB, cant touch the WR, if you do its a penalty. Teams are throwing at an increased rate, and the favorable rules are a huge reason why.

Anything stick out to you guys so far????

Adding 7. RBs although have progressed into beastly athletes. Faster, bigger, and stronger than ever, can not hang onto a 15 oz football. Sad really. Put down the weights and grab a football. If your able to hang onto one, you may just have a job in the NFL soon.

just a few notes...

2) holding calls way up due to the placement of the umpire behind the line of scrimmage now... it was only a matter of time for that.

3) really? i feel like some kickers are nailing some longggg kicks right now. i agree some chip shots r being missed though, but distance seems to be at its longest.

I agree with both. As far as Fgs tho, although there have been a ton of long fgs, more than I can remember, the same can be said for missing short Fgs. 1/3 of the kickers in the league are under 70% coming into today, thats terrible. And 1/2 are under 75%, I think thats really high for this time of year. And the majority of those 50+ yarders we are seeing come from the top 15 % guys. So I think it is easy to say, 50% of the kickers in this league suck dick.

Only teams I could see being elite in 3-4 weeks are Jets, Ravens, Steelers, and possibly Atlanta. I would love to say my Pats, but I am not really sure with the trade of Moss and how that defense has played with how young they are. Serious liability.

Jets nor Atlanta elite.

Ravens i can see, lots of weapons. Steelers i would have to see Roethlisraper play a couple of weeks. people sleeping on the chiefs, not elite but much better than expected.
