Tidbits from Steeler camp in Latrobe.. Pa..

Have been out to camp twice so far... My take... Hampton is HUGE... Unreal fat.. The new punter sucks.. They have to be bringing someone else in.. Lamar Woodley at LB is a STUD... He will be a household name by the end of they year.. Tearing up camp early on... Mendenhall is green... Fast Willy is safe for now.... But Mendenhall is a fireplug like back... Like him... This is Bens team this year , on and off the field.. His body language this year is one of a leader.. He is vocal and the one calling the shots... Almost a swagger that has not been there in previous years.. Low number of players sightings in local taverns a trend that started in last years camp... its early... In the good old days you could go into Bobby Dales any day of the week and pound beers with Bradshaw or Ham and many others but not in todays world.. Cowher not being around has cost a few local taverns.. More to come...

Justin Hartwig starts this Thursday at center ... Mahan will not beat him out. Backup city for that dog.. IMO he was the problem last year in the line.. That and the lame dog situation with Faneca..

not a big fan of Corona either, but I'll drink most if it's free and cold... If I gotta pay... it's a dif story. I'm no beer connoisuer like Rev. I'm not the biggest fan of the Micro Brews though... some of those get really stupid - hate the fruity types.

Its has not been made in Latrobe for about 3 years now.. Original local owners sold to big business...Its made in NJ... No more Western Pa mountain stream water.. Spent alot of early Friday evenings there on the free tour while going to Saint Vincents( ions ago) Before PC days... You could get plowed for the 5 dollar tour fee..

IMO... A HUGE year... Look at the draft picks last 3 years .. Alot of offensive weapons at the speed positions.. They did not pay Ben the big bucks to hand off.. Its interesting also to watch him at camp this year he has a major "swagger" thing going on.. Slimed down... And he runs the team... Past years blended in... Not this year.. Its Bens team for the first time.. IMO.. This year they will set up the run with the pass. Instead of putting Ben in 3rd and fives all year.. Look for Holmes to break out with him..

My prediction Batch may never take another snap for Pitt... Bryon L.. Came into camp rail thin and on the first day was throwing fastballs.. Has been impressive already.. Batch gets over a million this year.. BL gets 270,000... IMO.. Its time for a change at backup.. Some may disagree but Pitt always looks at the bottom line and cuts bait without punity.. IE Franco.. Faneca... Woodson.. Batch a good guy but a stop gap at best short term.. Could win nothing over the long haul with him or BL.. Take the younger cheaper more upside guy IMO.. Cant believe how thin both he and Ben are this year..
