Tomlinson takes swipe at Adrian Peterson

Interesting stuff from local paper here in Minny

There was L.T. before there was A.D.

LaDainian Tomlinson, a five-time Pro Bowl running back for the San Diego Chargers, was widely considered the league's top back for a while... until Peterson came along.

And now, after turning 30 in June, Tomlinson is jealous of Peterson, the reigning rushing champ.

Legendary running back Jim Brown interviewed Peterson at his Los Angeles area home for Sporting News during the offseason. One of the Chargers coaches made sure -- perhaps as motivation -- that Tomlinson saw the piece.

"Jim Brown was telling Peterson he's the best runner he'd seen in a long time," Tomlinson told the Los Angeles Times. "I was sitting there reading it thinking, 'Wow.'

"The difference with me is you can put me out on that field and there will be nothing I can't do," Tomlinson told the Times. "I won't have to come off the field. Adrian has to come off sometimes on third down. Running routes, he's still not there yet. Great downhill runner, powerful, fast, all that stuff. . . .

"But anything on that field you want me to do -- throw it, block -- I can do it. That's what I pride myself on is not having any weaknesses. And that's what makes me the best back."

The merit of his argument isn't the point. The point is, Tomlinson expressing obvious jealousy about Peterson, who isn't the type to engage in this sort of debate.

We will talk to Peterson after practice because... he's talking about pedestrian safety for students in the Twin Cities. FedEx is donating $28,000 to the Safe Kids Northwest Metro Minneapolis because Peterson is the reigning FedEx Ground Player of the Year.

When asked about this, though, I'm sure Peterson will say something diplomatic, because that is his nature.

Stay tuned.

actually LT was referencing what somehow almighty know everything Brown said that AP was one of the most complete backs he had seen in a "long long time". which in itself is a lie...LT went ahead and pointed that out, cited his very factual reasons and that was it. LT in his prime runs rings around peterson...last time i checked complete backs dont fumble 9 times in a season

"Jim Brown was telling Peterson he's the best runner he'd seen in a long time," Tomlinson told the Los Angeles Times. "I was sitting there reading it thinking, 'Wow.'

Jim Brown didnt say anythign about blocking, pass catching, etc.

LT is old and senile now obviously.

you should probably get an accurate article, one that isn't smothered with minnesota bias. It says "complete back"
