Argos notebook:

Boston returns to Toronto, will practise Sunday

Posted: June 20, 2008, 7:48 PM by Mark Masters

David Boston will practise with the Toronto Argonauts Sunday after deciding to resume his football career despite injury concerns.

The former National Football League star left Toronto three weeks ago before the start of training camp to deal with a foot injury he first suffered with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year.

Boston visited a foot specialist in Baltimore and, while told he would not need surgery, he was advised he might need to sit out as many as 10 weeks.

"This has been an old injury from a long time ago and it was up to him if he wanted to play — and to the degree he wanted to play," Argos head coach Rich Stubler said. "And I'm good with that."

The team cut seven players on Friday, among them former NFL receiver Patrick Johnson.

"[Johnson] did not perform up to where we thought he should perform to," Stubler said, adding the return of Boston was a factor in the decision.

The Argos also cut receiver Chris Cole, kicker Robert Eeuwes, linebackers Yves Hercule and Eric Maranda, defensive back Jason Shivers and defensive end Seante Williams. Maranda was the Argos' top pick in the 2007 college draft.

Fact is.....a TRUE athlete can get back into the game in less time than prescribed by medical experts.

Looks like Tiger will need the FULL YEAR to recover.
