TT's Sunday Investment

Looking at Pittsburg travelling to Chicago Sunday.

Both Teams took major blows to their defenses last week with Brian Urlacher out for the season in Chicago and Troy P (I'm not attempting that!) out for this game for the Steelers.

While Polamalu (kk...I did it anyway) is at this point in their careers the better of the two players, Urlacher is as equally important to the defense of the Bears as Polamalu is to the Steelers. In fact, I would argue, U is much more important. The Bears have fewer pieces than the Steelers. Taking the heart out of the Bears defense is much more damaging than taking the adrenaline out of the Steelers.

It can be argued that the Bears need this victory more than the Steelers do. We all know that 0-2 is "almost" a death knell in the NFL. I'll give the nod to the Bears on that point. However, the Steelers while victorious last week were not pleased with how they looked....there is plenty of motivation coming off a poor performance against a good Titans team.

I give the nod to the Bears on special teams and call the defenses close, though I lean toward the Steelers.

Offensively there is no contest here. The Steelers are far and away the most talented. Cutler is lost..whether that be him or the scheme..it is too early to say at this point. Cutler looked very "delommey" against the Packers. He was lucky to get off the field with only four interceptions. One broadcaster proclaimed him to be the best quarterback the Packers had on the field. Aptly put. Don't expect Jay Cutler to be that bad..but don't expect him to be good.

I really like the Steelers in this spot, picking them up early in the week at -3. I expect the game to grind slow through the first half...even or 3 points either way. If you like to invest in SHO's (second half opportunities) you may be able to get good value here as I anticipate the Steelers wearing down the Bear defense and winning easily.

Prediction Steelers 24 Bears 13.

Also predict this line to move to about -4.5....so recommend grabbing the gift points early as the Polamalu and Urlacher talk quiets down as the week wears on.

Investing 4 units out of 5 on this one

Thumbs up Popeofpercentages

I agree with your analysis of the Pit/Bear game at Chicago. However, I don't think that the line will go past -4.

Steelers / Bears

The Bears are becoming a fashionable pick throughout the media this week. While this is holding the line...it ignores the basic realities of this game. I hold firm on the Steelers, but do not expect as much line movement as I anticipated earlier in the week.
