Vikings coach wanted to pull Favre

Brett Favre revealed after Sunday night's loss that coach Brad Childress tried to pull him in the third quarter with the Vikings up 7-6, but Favre refused to leave the ballgame.

Favre looked heated on the sideline, presumably right after Childress tried to take him out. He indicated that Childress wanted to pull him because he was taking so many hits. Favre was "not a happy camper" in his post-game presser, and beat writer Judd Zulgad says "this seems like a real issue." ESPN will eat up the report, but we wouldn't think much of it. Favre is certainly in no danger of losing his job.(rotoworld)

Man, this sucks... I am not a Favre fan, but he has to cool his emotions. He is soo talented, but his self righteousness is detrimental to not only this team, but a lot of previous teams.

It is going to be the whole same song and dance. Starts off on fire, but then he gets all pissed off cause he feels that people aren't appreciating him. Then he just keeps shooting himself in the foot.

Hopefully this time he can shake it off and just keep a cool head.

as soon as carolina scored that last TD, i already knew he was gonna throw a pick on the next drive. vikings in the playoffs are screwed unless they've got the lead in every game. he loves forcing throws when he's behind. his comeback luck has been replaced with throwing ill advised balls. i know how much everyone loves the silver fox but remember he's got the NFL record for interceptions too. 491 TDs vs 316 INTs or roughly 1.5 TDs per INT. talent has nothing to do with what he does. its mostly the receivers going up and fighting for the deep balls. when favre throws he has no idea where its gonna come down.

Favre has been the absolute difference in the emergence of the Vikings WR's and team as a whole. The fact that he wanted to pull Favre by any means is ridiculous. If he was worried about his QB getting killed out there the neh shouldve pulled the O-Line before the QB..

disagree. Vikings playoff drive will have more to do with establishing a running game than Favre. Favre is vital part but this team is abandoning the run in both Sunday night games.

He does throw some balls up in the air but pretty sure 90% of the time it leaves his hand he knows where it is going. Just a matter of who is going to make the play. The WR or CB.

they didnt abandon the run. they kept trying and peterson was getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage. carolina D line came to play and vikes O line didn't. hence they wanted to pull the old man since he was getting wrecked.

14 rushes in a game seems like abandoning unless you see how badly those 14 rushes went. peterson 2.9 per carry. lots of tackles for loss. if its ineffective then you go with something else. the pass game was also ineffective so they were left with just not scoring and sitting on the ball.

9 carries in the 1st half and 3 in the 2nd half. It was a 7-6 game at this time. The Vikings were the better team against a poor run team. 12 carries for Peterson is abandoning the run. Good teams force their will in those situations and keep pounding the ball. Vikings didn't do that.

again if you're getting stuffed and your O line isnt opening holes why keep doing it? screen to peterson or throwing underneath was working a lot better than no gains over and over. that game was lost in the trenches. vikes lines on both sides phoned it in and they got what was coming to them.

Don't know why chilly would try to pull the legend in a close game. Favre didn't lose this one, the pick was thrown when the game was over. The receivers had a million uncharacteristic drops, rice had a bad fumble when they were moving the ball, AP didn't run for shit, the o line didn't block for shit, the corners didn't cover for shit, and the coach was a bumbling buffoon. The only reason to pull favre is if you are conceding the game and cognizant of the fact that the porous line may get him killed. At 7-6 it wasn't the time to concede, and if players make plays they are supposed to the game isn't close. How they didn't double peppers and smith every time is beyond me. Vikes need to take care of the lowly bears next week, and then beat the giants at home. The first round bye is crucial for this team. If they get the bye, they will have one game to win in the terror dome where they are basically unbeatable. Then its on to the NFC championship where anything can happen.

The vikings have definitely come back to earth with their performance against the cards and panthers, but the season isn't over. It's not time to hit the panic button yet.

Ya, remember when he tore his arm up in NY last year? I guess if he tears his surgically repaired arm in Minnesota they should get worried. Minny had bigger issues last night than Favre's play.

Childress is a moron, Favre is the reason he will coach a few more years and you don't pull your starter in a 1 pt game.

Farve wearing down just like he did last season with the Jets. Coach asked him to take some time off and he lets his ego get in the way again. No reason for his actions and once again by bringing it out front he is putting himself above the team. This team is a playoff team and they could have brought this out at the end of the seasonl. Farve is one of the best to ever play the QB position but his actions in the last few years lead me to believe that he is all about his ego. He also wears his heart on his sleeve. After football we may read about him swinging from a very short rope. He got into pain meds years ago and that is anther reason for me to believe that he has ghost floating around in his head. Bigger picture will come out after he retires. If and when he retires.
