Week 1 Sunday Morning/Afternoon Games


Jacksonville Jaguars -3.0 at Tennessee Titans
Wow… These are the only words used to describe the spread at first glance. Upon further review, “Wow” turns into “What the **** Were They Thinking?” On one hand you got the overachievers of last year in the Titans vs. one of the better teams in the NFL. This game, to me, is a mismatch. The Titans and Jaguars are near mirror images. 2 back running game, Mobile Quarterbacks, and Defenses anchored by the horses in the trenches. The major difference is, the Jaguars are better than the titans in all 3 aspects. This game reminds me of big brother vs. little brother. You know that the little brother will one day be better than big brother… But that day is not today. Jags roll.

Seattle Seahawks at Buffalo Bills -1.0
No Deion Branch or Bobby Engram??? Maurice Morris starting at running back??? Did Vegas forget to adjust the spreads??? Or are people Underestimating the Buffalo Bills this year??? The answer to all 4 questions is YES. The Bills are going to be a great team this year, and will ride a bruising running game (Marshawn Lynch) and a dominant defense into playoff contention this year. On the other hand, this Season opener for Seattle is the last of 2 things. The last time Holmgren opens the season as the coach, and the last time Seattle opens the season as the Division champ. Buffalo wins this game here, and starts the season off “Running” out the gate. (Pun Intended).

TampaBay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints -3.0
This is a intriguing match-up to say the least. This is the defending division winner, up against, seemingly, their biggest contender to take the crown from them. The rest of the division looks just awful so both these teams are going to be going neck and neck for the title. I look for New Orleans vast array of weapons to be too much for the Bucs to handle, and I don’t see the Bucs putting very much offense up on the revamped Defense of the Saints. Saints at home in front of their electric crowd will tear it up, and show a taste of what the fans can expect this year. Saint Roll with a big Win here.

Carolina Panthers at San Diego Chargers -9.5
Are you kidding me??? Since when is 9.5 a big spread when you got the Best team in the NFL vs. one of the worse teams in the NFL. And it’s in San Diego to boot. San Diego will look to establish Tomlinson right away, and just when Carolina puts their 8th and 9th men in the box, Rivers will call a play-action roll out and hook up with Gates, Jackson, and Chambers all day. Diego is winning this game by 2 touchdowns plus.

Week 1 Sunday Nighter

Chicago Bears at Indianapolis Colts Total – 44.0
Chicago’s D is going to be the only reason they even win a game this year. Indy’s D will also put a stop to Chicago’s abysmal Offense. This game goes way Under.
