Week 1 Thursday Night

Week 1 Thursday Night Special

Washington Redskins at New York Giants -4.0
Ahhhhh… Do you smell that? The leaves are going to start falling, the kids are heading back to school, and that can only mean one thing… Football is BACK!!! And what a way to start the season. You’ve got 2 heavyweights, from the toughest division in football, squaring off in a battle to start the season. To me this game signifies the changing of the guard. On the one hand you have the New York Giants who are the defending Super Bowl champs. And on the other hand you have the team that I think is a Major Super Bowl Contender this year. Now forget all the hype, it’s time for the game itself.Washington has a complete team this year and the only thing holding them back (Joe Gibbs) is gone. Washington has an outstanding defense that only lacked two things last year, and that was Leadership and a Pass Rush. They have solidified both of those things with one player in the off-season. (Jason Taylor) On offense you have a team that knows what they want to do and that is Run the Ball and keep on pounding it with 2 legitimate backs in Portis and Betts. They also have a QB in Jason Campbell who I believe will have a breakout year this season. His maturity and guidance will be shown as he has a chance to learn from a legitimate QB’s coach in Jim Zorn. Not to mention his array of weapons to throw to. (Moss, Randle El, Thrash, Davis, Cooley) As for the Giants they have a Defense which has suffered major losses not only talent wise, but leadership wise. I do look for them to still have a potent offense as Eli Manning has really become a new quarterback. All that being said I don’t see it being enough as Washington is going to make this game into a defensive game, where the clock is constantly ticking. That being said Washington Covers the 4 easy, and might even win this game outright.

Mac Picks: Washington +4.0

Washington Redskins at New York Giants Total – 41.0
In a game where defense will be a premium and the clock will be ticking all game, (Running affair) this game goes under.
Mac Picks: Under 41.0
