Bengals and Niners are a combined 6-18 since winning Monday night games in Week 1, including a combined 0-3 in primetime.

At 5-8, the Bengals are eliminated from postseason consideration and in danger of recording their first losing campaign in head coach Marvin Lewis' five-year tenure. And while the season has been an overall disappointment for a club that came in with playoff aspirations, the last few weeks have produced better results.

Cincinnati has sandwiched home wins over Tennessee and St. Louis around a loss to AFC North leader Pittsburgh over its past three games, and Lewis' charges have a chance to record their first winning streak since ripping off four consecutive victories from November 19-December 10 of last season.

Offense has been the Niners' primary crutch, as the team ranks last in the NFL in total yards (235.5 ypg), scoring (13.2 ppg) and passing yards (150.0 ypg). San Francisco has scored 16 points or less in all 10 of its 2007 defeats.

The Bengals' main problem has been playing on the road. Cincinnati is just 1-5 away from home this year and has lost seven of its last eight as the visitor dating back to last season

The 49ers have a 7-3 lead in their all-time regular season series with the Bengals, but have lost two in a row to Cincinnati. The Bengals won home shootouts in 2003 (41-38) and 1999 (44-30), last losing to San Francisco in a road contest in 1996 (28-21). Cincinnati is 1-4 all-time in San Francisco, scoring its only win there in the first meeting between the clubs, in 1974.

The Buccaneers missed on an opportunity to clinch the division title when they came out flat in a 28-14 loss at Houston last Sunday,
but Jon Gruden's squad needs just one win in its final three games,

The 0-13 Dolphins have three more chances to avoid becoming the first 0-16 team in NFL history, and the first to go winless through a full NFL season since the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers were 0-14 in their inaugural campaign. (The 1982 Baltimore Colts went 0-8-1 in a strike-shortened season.)

Besides the '07 Dolphins and '76 Bucs, only the 1986 Indianapolis Colts, 1980 New Orleans Saints, and 1962 Oakland Raiders have lost their first 13 games of the season. The '80 Saints started 0-14 before winning their first game, while the '86 Colts and '62 Raiders won their 14th contest of the year.

Ironically, the Dolphins' most recent win came last Dec. 10, when they beat a New England Patriots team that hasn't lost a regular season game since that day.

Miami is 4-1 against Baltimore in regular season games all-time, but was a 30-23 road loser when the teams last met, in Week 17 of the 2004 season. In addition to the regular season series, the teams met in a 2001 AFC First- Round Playoff, with the Ravens scoring a 20-3 road victory.

Meanwhile, the Bills are one of the two teams, along with the Titans, who trail the Browns by one game for the second wild card spot. Buffalo has won two straight games and six of eight, and is coming off of a dominant 38-17 victory over the winless Miami Dolphins.

The Rams, who opened the season with an 0-8 start, will be playing with heavy hearts after owner Georgia Frontiere was hospitalized in Los Angeles this week with an undisclosed illness.

The 80-year-old Frontiere has had health problems for several months, according to team spokesman Rick Smith. She has been in charge of the Rams since husband Carroll Rosenbloom passed away in 1979.

The Rams lead the all-time regular season series with the Packers, which dates back to the 1937 season, 45-40-2. St. Louis was a 23-20 road winner when the teams met in Week 5 of last year, while Green Bay won the previous meeting, 45-17, at home in Week 12 of the 2004 season. The Rams won the last game played between the teams at the Edward Jones Dome, a 34-24 triumph in 2003, and the Packers have not won in St. Louis since 1996.

Now that FB Dan Kreider (knee) is on injured reserve, the Steelers are even less apt to power the ball in the I-formation. Even without stud MLB Mike Peterson (hand) and DT Marcus Stroud (ankle), Jacksonville boasts a stout run defense.

Steelers running back Willie Parker, who leads the NFL with 1,217 rushing yards, is vying to become Pittsburgh's first NFL rushing champion since Bill Dudley amassed a league-best 604 yards in 1946.

The STEELERS have outscored visitors 180-64 at Heinz Field in 2007 and will wrap up the regular season with two games on the road at St. Louis and Baltimore. The Steelers aim to finish the season a perfect 8-0 at Heinz Field for the second time in four years and just the fourth time in team history.

The Jaguars can secure a playoff spot with a win over the Steelers combined with a Tennessee loss or tie in its game with Kansas City this weekend.
Both teams bring a talented backfield into Sunday's matchup, as the Jaguars own the second-best ground attack in the NFL (143.8 ypg). The Steelers, thanks to tailback Willie Parker, average 141.6 rushing yards per contest.

Jacksonville leads its all-time series with Pittsburgh, 10-8, including a 9-0 home blanking of the Steelers in Week 2 of last season.

The Jaguars also won the previous meeting between the clubs, a 23-17 overtime win at Heinz Field in Week 6 of the 2005 season. The Steelers had won the three prior meetings, including a 17-16 road win in 2004 and a 20-7 win in the Steel City in 2001.

Brady needs five touchdown passes to surpass Peyton Manning's league mark of 49 TDs in a season, and Moss needs four TD catches to break Jerry Rice's single-season record of 22...Patriots and Jets each have just two rushes of 20 yards or longer this season, tied for the lowest figure in the league...New England has an NFL-low 10 turnovers on the year, and possesses a league-best +18 turnover margin

The two sideline generals have quite a history together, as Mangini broke into the NFL ranks as a bottom-rung assistant on Belichick's staff when the latter was head coach of the Cleveland Browns in 1995. Belichick also brought his protege along when he became an assistant with the Jets two years later, and Mangini also worked under him for six seasons with New England before taking over the Jets prior to the 2006 campaign.

The friendship between the pair, which was tested when Mangini took over a division rival, became further strained after Mangini's upstart Jets defeated Belichick's Pats at Gillette Stadium in Week 10 of last season. The tension grew greater in the aftermath of New England's 38-14 victory over New York in this year's season opener.

Following the loss, the Jets filed a complaint to the NFL office accusing the Patriots of illegally videotaping New York's defensive signals during the course of the game. After an ensuing investigation by the league, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced that New England would be forced to forfeit its first-round selection in the 2008 draft and levied a $500,000 fine on Belichick.

The incident tarnished the reputation of both coaches, with Belichick viewed by many as a cheater who compiled his glossy credentials by using dirty tactics, and Mangini as a whistle-blower who broke an unspoken code among the coaching circles.

Another chapter of the story was revealed this week, when news broke that the Jets had used a second video camera in one of the end zones during one of the team's two games in Foxborough last year.
The Jets claimed that they had received prior permission from the Patriots to record the game, and the NFL stated on Wednesday that such a practice is neither illegal or uncommon
The Jets hold a 48-45-1 edge in the all-time regular season series with the Patriots,
were 38-14 home losers against New England in Week 1.
Last season, New York broke a seven-game losing skid to its longtime AFC East rival with a 17-14 road victory in Week 10. New England is 10-2 in its last 12 regular season games against the Jets, with the losses over that stretch coming at home in 2002 and 2006.
The Patriots and Jets have also met twice once in the postseason, including a 26-14 road victory for New England in a 1985 AFC First-Round Playoff and last season's 37-16 triumph in an opening-round tilt.
Belichick has a career mark of 12-6 against the Jets, for whom he served as defensive coordinator from 1997 through 1999, including 11-5 while with New England. Mangini is 1-3 against both his former mentor Belichick and his ex- employer New England.

The Chiefs' current six-game losing streak is the franchise's longest since 1998, when Marty Schottenheimer's final team lost six consecutive in the midst of a 7-9 year.

Kansas City last lost seven in a row in 1987, when the team dropped nine consecutive, though three of those losses came with replacement players on the field during a player's strike. The team's longest losing streak in a non- strike year came in 1985, when it lost seven in a row.

The Chiefs have the third-longest current skid in the NFL behind only the 0-13 Dolphins and the equally 4-9 Ravens, who have lost seven straight.
Tennessee, meanwhile, might come off a worse indignity. The Titans held a 17-3 fourth-quarter lead on the visiting San Diego Chargers, and looked to be well on their way to maintaining their standing near the top of the AFC Wild Card race.

But Jeff Fisher's club imploded, allowing San Diego to put together its first two touchdown drives of the day to tie the contest at 17-17. Predictably, the Chargers finished the comeback in overtime on a long LaDainian Tomlinson touchdown run.

The Titans, who have lost four of five since a 6-2 start, sit a game behind Cleveland for the final Wild Card spot in the AFC as Week 15 commences.

DET controlled much of the first 3 quarters against heavily favored DAL before allowing DAL to escape with a 28-27 victory.
SD rallied from 14 down at Tennessee to pull out a 23-17 OT win. SD can take the AFC West with a win and a Broncos loss.
SD has won 7 straight games in December.
DET allowed DAL TE Jason Witten 15 catches last week and now faces SD’s Antonio Gates.
In DET’s 4-game losing streak, the team rushed for 164 yards combined. Against DAL, Kevin Jones and T.J. Duckett rushed for a combined 152 yards and 3 touchdowns.

DET has lost 5 straight since their 6-2 start.
SD RB LaDainian Tomlinson scored 16 yards out in OT.
SD scored the game’s final 20 points.
Gates caught a 2-yard touchdown with 9 seconds remaining to send the game into OT.

SD QB Philip Rivers struggled early but was 11-of-17 for 127 yards with 2 TDs in SD’s 2 touchdown drives in the 4th quarter.
This was the first time in SD history that the club has trailed by 14 points in the 4th quarter on the road and came back to win.
Rivers has committed 20 turnovers this season (15 interceptions and 5 fumbles).

With the win, the Chargers maintained a two-game lead on the Denver Broncos in the AFC West, and can clinch a second consecutive division title with a fourth straight triumph in Week 15, coupled with a Denver loss in Houston on Thursday night

Like their competitors on Sunday, the Detroit Lions very nearly headed into Week 15 boasting positive momentum. Rod Marinelli's team, desperate for a win following four consecutive losses, led NFC top dog Dallas for most of last week's matchup, and held a 27-14 fourth-quarter lead over the Cowboys.
But the Lions failed to keep their grip on what would have been a course- reversing victory, as Dallas rallied for two touchdowns, including one on a final-minute pass from Tony Romo to tight end Jason Witten, that severely harmed Detroit's chances at its first playoff berth since 1999.

The Lions enter Sunday's game sitting amid a glut of 6-7 teams looking up at 7-6 Minnesota for the final Wild Card spot in the NFC.
The potential tie-breakers don't favor Marinelli's club, nor does a schedule which includes road games against the Chargers and 11-2 Packers, with a home game against the Kansas City Chiefs sandwiched in between.
The Chargers have won seven straight games in December.
The Lions ran for 152 yards and three TDs last week against Dallas.

And still lost

The Lions’ zone coverages couldn’t slow Cowboys TE Jason Witten (15 catches) last week, which has San Diego’s Antonio Gates licking his chops.

Williams (ankle) is iffy for Sunday's game against the Lions, the San Diego Union Tribune reports

Though Gates (back) is listed as questionable, he's considered likely to play Sunday against the Lions, the San Diego Union Tribune reports.
Rivers (knee) took about half the reps in practice Friday and said he felt about the same as he did Thursday, the San Diego Union Tribune reports. He is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions.

San Diego has a 5-3 lead in the all-time series with Detroit, and has won five in a row in the series since the Lions prevailed in the first three meetings (1972, 1977, 1978). The Chargers were 14-7 road winners when the clubs last met, in 2003, and took a 27-21 decision when the two last did battle in Southern California, in 1996. The Lions are 0-3 all-time in San Diego.

PHI’s playoff hopes likely were dashed with a last-minute loss to NYG at home.
DAL survived their late scare in DET as TE Jason Witten caught a TD pass — his 15th reception of the game — with 18 seconds left.
PHI QB Donovan McNabb didn’t complete a pass longer than 19 yards last week.
DAL held PHI RB Brian Westbrook to 16-65-1 as a runner in the first meeting, but he snagged14

DAL QB Tony Romo ate up the Eagles’ secondary in Week 9 as old friend Terrell Owens (10-174-1) proved to be extremely difficult to cover.
DET ran for 152 yards and 3 TDs last week against DAL.
Romo has a TD pass in 17 straight games, breaking Troy Aikman’s record for the longest streak in franchise history.

Witten made up for his goal-line fumble by converting on a couple of crucial third downs in the fourth quarter and catching the game-winner. He finished with 138 yards.
DAL has scored at least 24 points in every game this season and has won 7 straight games. Their last seven-game streak was in 1993-94.
With the win, DAL clinched the NFC East Division title.

PHI PK David Akers had his 57-yard field goal attempt clang off the right upright with a second remaining to preserve the Giants’ 16-13 victory. The kick would have tied a career-long if it had sailed just a few inches left.
PHI DE Trent Cole had his first 2-sack game since Week 8.
Coming into the game, PHI was ranked 8th in 3rd-down conversions. That dropped to 12th after they delivered on only 2-of-13 3rd-down attempts against NYG.

With their postseason hopes now all but dashed, the Philadelphia Eagles will attempt to spoil the Dallas Cowboys' goals of seizing home field advantage throughout this year's NFC Playoffs when the bitter divisional rivals square off this Sunday in a late-season showdown from Texas Stadium.

The Eagles are in grave danger of missing out on the conference's postseason parade for only the second time in the last eight years after suffering narrow defeats in each of their previous three games heading into Sunday's tilt.
At 5-8, Philadelphia now trails Minnesota by two games in the race for the NFC's final wild card spot with three to play.
Those three losses have come by a total of 10 points, with the most recent setback coming at the hands of fellow NFC East member New York last Sunday.

The Giants went ahead on Eli Manning's third-quarter touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress, then held on for a 16-13 decision when Philadelphia's David Akers hit the upright on a 57-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds.
Dallas has already wrapped up the division crown by virtue of last week's 28-27 comeback triumph at Detroit. The Cowboys rallied from a 13-point fourth- quarter deficit and forged ahead on a 16-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Tony Romo to tight end Jason Witten with just 18 seconds left on the game clock.

The Cowboys haven't won 13 games in a regular-season since 1992, a year in which the franchise captured the first of three Super Bowl titles in a four- season span.

The Cowboys hold a 52-41 advantage in their all-time regular season series with the Eagles, including a 38-17 win in Philadelphia in Week 9. Dallas was swept in a home-and-home with their long-time NFC East rival last season, including a 23-7 home loss. The Eagles' last defeat at Texas Stadium occurred in 2005.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid has a career record of 12-5 against the Cowboys. Dallas' Wade Phillips is 2-0 all-time against both Philadelphia and Reid all- time, with the first of those wins coming in the form of a 26-0 rout for Phillips' Bills over the Eagles in 1999.

What do the Cowboys have to play for?
The only way they can lose the hold on their No. 1 seed is if something bizarre happens.
That's why they didn't show up against the Lions until the very end
They watched the score of the Eagles Giants game , and until Giants had the lead

then they didn’t take the Lions serious.
They have a game lead on the Packers , Have beaten the Packers ,
and Carolina next week for home field adv..
Or perhaps Packers can lose at cold Chicago outdoor stadium next week ...

The Eagles need 3 wins to finish 8-8
If Vikings lose 1 of 3 they’ll be 8-8 ...
The Eagles beat Vikings in week 8 so they’d win the tie breaker...
Win or done for Eagles..
the majority of Philadelphia's losses have come by single digits (3, 8, 13, 3, 21, 3, 4, 3)
10.5 is a lot of points in a heated rivalry,
especially when one of the teams may not be fully focused

The Cowboys have flopped in eight of their last 11 ATS versus Philadelphia at home. The SU winner in this NFC-East rivalry is 28-4-1 ATS. Dallas has gone 'over' in 10 of 13 games this year. WAS won an emotional game last Thursday, their first since the death of teammate Sean Taylor. But it did come at a cost — QB Jason Campbell (dislocated kneecap) is likely out for the season after being hurt against the Bears.
NYG won their 9th game, beating PHI and likely locking up the NFC’s top wild-card spot.

Backup QB Todd Collins, who replaced Campbell, was 15-of-20 passing for 224 yards with 2 TDs and no interceptions last week.
NYG DE Osi Umenyiora got his 7th sack against the Eagles in 2 games. Umenyiora leads the NFC lead with 12 sacks.
NYG RB Brandon Jacobs lost 2 fumbles in his first game back to action since Week 11.
WAS CB Shawn Springs intercepted 2 Brian Griese passes on consecutive Bears drives in the 2nd quarter. The 1st of his 2 interceptions led to the game’s first score, a 21-yard touchdown pass from Collins to TE Todd Yoder.
Collins played in the regular season for the first time since 2004.
WAS won despite rushing for just 32 yards.
The last time Collins threw 2 touchdown passes in a game was on Nov. 30, 1997, as the QB for the Bills

Collins last opened a game on Dec. 14, 1997, as a member of the Buffalo Bills...Giants can clinch a Wild Card berth with a win or losses for Minnesota (vs. Chicago) and New Orleans (vs. Arizona)...Collins, who threw his first NFL pass since 2004 in last week's 24-16 win over the Bears, completed 15-of-20 throws for 224 yards and two touchdowns in the game...
New York receiver Plaxico Burress, who had seven catches for 136 yards and a touchdown in last week's 16-13 win over the Eagles, needs 100 yards for the fourth 1,000-yard season of his career... Giants lead the NFL in sacks (47)...Redskins have allowed just two rushes of 20 yards or longer, the lowest figure in the league.

The New York Giants have a postseason berth within their grasp and will try to lock up the playoff spot this Sunday, when they host the NFC East-rival Washington Redskins at Giants Stadium.

A win over the Redskins, who are also fighting for a playoff spot, would clinch one of the NFC's wild card spots for the 9-4 Giants.
Dallas (12-1) has already won the NFC East crown

.
New York can also get into the postseason with a loss or tie by both Minnesota and New Orleans this weekend.
Even if they were to lose final 3 , they’d be at 9-7 ...
The Giants won their second straight game this past Sunday after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, 16-13.
It was New York's sixth straight road win, a good sign for a team that will open the postseason as the visitor if it gets in.

Meanwhile, 6-7 Washington is one of four teams, along with Detroit, Arizona and New Orleans, that are a game back of Minnesota (7-6) for the final wild card spot.
That makes this game a big one, as the Redskins play at the Vikings next weekend.
Washington will be without its starting quarterback for this test, though, as Jason Campbell suffered a dislocated left kneecap during their 24-16 win over the Chicago Bears on December 6.

Campbell suffered the injury in the second quarter when he was tackled by Chicago defensive end Mark Anderson. The quarterback was taken off the field on a cart and did not return.
Todd Collins, who has spent the majority of his 13-year career as a seldom- used backup, will make his first NFL start since he began a game for the Buffalo Bills on December 14, 1997.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Washington in what has been an emotional period for the team. It was the second game for the Redskins since the death of safety Sean Taylor, who was critically shot in his home on November 26 in an apparent robbery attempt

The Giants have a 85-60-4 advantage in the all-time regular season series with Washington, including a 24-17 come-from-behind win at FedEx Field in Week 3. New York has now won three straight in the series and will be going for its first back-to-back home-and-home sweeps of the Skins since 1994-95. The Redskins, who last defeated the G-Men in 2005 at home, have lost the last three meetings between the teams at Giants Stadium since last winning there in 2003.

Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs is 14-18 against the Giants in his career, including the '86 postseason loss. New York's Tom Coughlin is 6-4 against the Redskins all-time, including 1-2 while with the Jacksonville Jaguars (1995-2002), and is 5-2 head-to-head versus Gibbs.
Butler (hamstring) is listed as out for Sunday's game against the Redskins.

Shockey (abdominal strain) was limited in Friday's practice, the NY Newsday reports.
Burress (ankle/knee) missed practice all week, but should play against Washington on Sunday, the Giants' official site reports.

The Redskins have placed Thomas (triceps) on IR

MIN have won 4 straight after beating San Francisco 27-7 and would be in the playoffs if they started this week.
CHI’s playoff hopes were dashed following a Thursday-night loss to Washington.
CHI could only amass 60 yards on the ground against the Redskins.
CHI QB Rex Grossman, who posted an 82.1 rating in his four games since being benched, was lost for the season with a knee injury in the first half.
Despite netting 22 first downs, CHI only scored one TD.
MIN defense allowed 83 yards rushing, 375 yards passing to CHI in Week Six.
MIN RB Adrian Peterson ran for 224 yards and 3 TDs vs. CHI in first meeting.
Last week RB Chester Taylor broke an 84-yard TD scamper, but MIN finished the day with only 117 yards on the ground.

CHI allowed MIN 311 yards rushing the last time these two played.
MIN has 17 runs of 20 or more yards this year, most in the NFL.
CHI failed to score a red-zone touchdown to tie the game at 17 in the 4th quarter.

CHI had a 1st-and-goal from the Redskins 1-yard line, but a 3-yard loss by RB Adrian Peterson and two Brian Griese incompletions forced the Bears to settle for a 22-yard Robbie Gould field goal.
CHI committed 9 penalties for 49 yards, with 6 of those penalties coming on a single third-quarter drive.

Grossman left the game after just 6 pass attempts and was replaced by Griese, who finished 27-of-45 for 295 yards, with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions

Chicago quarterback Rex Grossman (knee) is likely to miss the rest of the year...
Minnesota has won four straight since a 3-6 start, the franchise's longest winning streak since taking six in a row in 2005...
Vikings lead the NFL in rushing offense (172.2 yards per game), rushing touchdowns (18), yards per carry (5.5), and rushes of 20 yards or longer (17)...

Minnesota's Adrian Peterson rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-31 win over the Bears in Week 6...
Chicago's Adrian Peterson has 279 scrimmage yards in his past three games...Bears are last in the league in yards per carry (3.18)...Vikings lead the NFL in rushing defense (70.7 yards per game), but are last in the NFL in passing defense (273.3 yards per game).

The Bears are 4-9 vs. the number, including 3-4 on the road. … Chicago has covered one of its last four games, and three of its last four contests have gone over the total. … Chicago has covered one of its last six games vs. NFC North rivals and has covered its final road game one of the last five seasons. …

The Bears have covered four of their last 16 regular-season games and have covered five of their last 19 contests overall, including playoffs. … The Vikings are 7-4-2 vs. the spread, including 4-2 at home. … Minnesota has covered five of its last six games, including its last three home contests. …
The Vikings have covered 12 of their last 15 contests as a favorite on artificial turf but
have covered one of their last four night home games. …

Minnesota has covered three of the last four meetings but has not covered both meetings during a season in any of the last four campaigns (the Vikings covered in Week Six).

Minnesota will be looking to sweep the season series against Chicago for the first time since 2000. The Vikings surprised the Bears the first time around as six-point road dogs, 34-31. That extended a streak that has seen the dog bark in 16 of the past 19 series confrontations. The Bears are 6-24 ATS on the road in December. Minnesota is 3-9 as favorites versus a division opponent off back-to-back SU and ATS wins. The Vikings have knuckled 'under' in 10 of 11 off a double-digit win.

Lets look at how good your 2nd nfc WILD CARD LEADER IS
They lost to 5-8 Eagles at home , beat Chargers who were looking ahead to the Colts,
Lost 34-0 Packers div rival , beat Oak NYG,Det who ere on the road ,
SF on the road.
They also lost to the Chiefs in week 3
So they’ve beaten Atl , Chi by 3 S.D. looking ahead.
The Giants. Not too many winning teams.
Just giving a heads up if they make te playoffs.
As for this game.

All they need to do is stay a game ahead of trailing teams which should be clearer by Monday...

Chicago allowed them 311 yards rushing the last time these two played, especially with the playoffs within reach. If Minnesota can get QB Tarvaris Jackson out of the pocket on play-action fakes and put him in a position to make plays with his feet and his arm, Chicago will be in trouble.

Vikings OLT Bryant McKinnie vs. smallish Bears DRE Mark Anderson. Anderson is giving away about 90 pounds in this battle.
