Week 16 by Chris Schultz

8:20 PM Thursday, December 23, 2010
Carolina @ Pittsburgh (-15.0) Schultz Picks: Pittsburgh:
-----------------------------------------------------

With two games to go, the Steelers are tied with the Ravens at 8-4. Pittsburgh has this game with the Panthers and then they take on the Browns, and if they win both, they win the AFC North. I have to go with the motivated Steelers to dominate a Carolina team whose highest point total has been 23.

Schultzie has been on the Steelers in every single week this season where they are 8-6 ATS I believe.

-15 is their biggest line of this season which beats -14 in Wk 6 vs CLE.

Dallas (-7.0) @ Arizona Schultz Picks: Dallas:
--------------------------------------------

Arizona has won one game in its last nine, while Dallas has won four of its last six and lost by three points twice. The Cowboys are out of the playoff picture but are playing as if they are in. Dallas covers.

New England (-9.0) @ Buffalo Schultz Picks: New England:
---------------------------------------------------------

The Bills have played extremely well in the second half of the season, winning four of six since starting 0-8. But New England can score and too many Patriots are too fast for Buffalo to keep pace. N.E. covers.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
NY Jets @ Chicago (-1.0) Schultz Picks: Chicago:
------------------------------------------------

The Bears have won six of their last seven and are a much more balanced team in play-calling between passing and running. There are two excellent kick returners in Brad Smith of the Jets and Devin Hester of the Bears. At home in December, take the Bears.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
Baltimore (-3.5) @ Cleveland Schultz Picks: Baltimore:
----------------------------------------------------

The pressure will be on for Baltimore as the opportunity is there to win the AFC North. There are two very good running backs in Peyton Hillis (1,129 yards) and Ray Rice (1,051), but Baltimore has the better quarterback in Joe Flacco. He's thrown only three interceptions in his lat 374 passing attempts. Go with Baltimore.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
Tennessee @ Kansas City (-5.0) Schultz Picks: Kansas City:
----------------------------------------------------------

The Chiefs have to keep the pressure on themselves. Within nine wins, they are only one game up on San Diego. Matt Cassel played well last week, and should be even better this week at home.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
San Francisco @ St. Louis (-2.0) Schultz Picks: St. Louis:
--------------------------------------------------------

The 49ers have not allowed a 100-yard rusher in 20 games, but Rams rookie Sam Bradford is only the third rookie QB to pass for over 3,000 yards (3,065) with Peyton Manning and Matt Ryan being the other two. Go with St. Louis.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
Detroit @ Miami (-3.5) Schultz Picks: Detroit:
--------------------------------------------

Drew Stanton separated his shoulder in the Tampa Bay game so the Lions may be down to their third quarterback. Miami, in their last three games, lost by three to Cleveland, beat the Jets by four and lost to the Bills by three. This is probably a field goal game. Detroit.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
Washington @ Jacksonville (-7.0) Schultz Picks: Jacksonville:
-----------------------------------------------------------

The Jaguars need to beat Washington and hope that the Colts lose to Oakland to keep a division win alive. Rex Grossman played well on the road but it's tough two weeks in a row. Jacksonville.

4:05 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
Indianapolis (-3.0) @ Oakland Schultz Picks: Indianapolis:
-------------------------------------------------------

It's amazing to think there is only a one-game difference between the 8-6 Colts and the 7-7 Raiders. The Colts must have another excellent game in run defence or the Raiders can beat them with their dominant time of possession. Not this week, though. Colts.

4:05 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
Houston (-3.0) @ Denver Schultz Picks: Denver:
-----------------------------------------------

When the Texans lost to Tennessee 31-17, it was over, as for the ninth straight year they will not qualify for the playoffs. Tim Tebow will bring a new energy to a 3-11 football team. Denver.

4:05 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
San Diego (-7.0) @ Cincinnati Schultz Picks: San Diego:
------------------------------------------------------

It may be a road game late in December but the Chargers have had extra preparation time, having beaten the 49ers last Thursday. They will be as healthy as possible and Philip Rivers is 20-1 as a starter in December. SD covers.

4:15 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
NY Giants @ Green Bay (-2.5) Schultz Picks: Green Bay:
------------------------------------------------------

The status of Aaron Rodgers will mean everything in this game. Although Matt Flynn played well, Rodgers is still a superior quarterback. It should be a field goal game, but with the Packers at home in December, take them.

4:15 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
Seattle @ Tampa Bay (-6.0) Schultz Picks: Tampa Bay:
------------------------------------------------------

The Buccaneers are missing five starters on defence going into the final two weeks, but Seattle has an injured Matt Hasselbeck and do not play well on the road. The Bucs, with eight wins, could finish 10-6 on the season. Bucs.

8:20 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010
Minnesota @ Philadelphia (-14.0) Schultz Picks: Philadelphia:
----------------------------------------------------------

If the Bears can score 40 against the Vikes, what can the Eagles do? Whether it's Joe Webb or Brett Favre, Philadelphia should be able to score points. Go with Philly.

8:30 PM Monday, December 27, 2010
New Orleans @ Atlanta (-3.0) Schultz Picks: Atlanta:
----------------------------------------------------

The Saints can still make the playoffs. All they have to do is beat the Falcons on Monday night or the Bucs next week at home. The Falcons can win the NFC South and home-field advantage throughout with a win on Monday night or over Carolina on January 2. Why wait? Falcons.

Yes, some.

I could be wrong but playing the full "16-game schedule" every week for 17 weeks is a 50-50 thingy or less. Only luck will put you above 50% when all is said and done.

I haven't followed Schultzie's Top-3 Picks of the Week but I'm sure he has a much more "respectable" record on those--the ones he actually puts $ on.
