What are everyone's thoughts on the Turkey-Day Games?
Green Bay (6-4) @ Detroit (2-8)
LINE: Green Bay -10.5
Green Bay has offensive line woes and last week the Packers faced the 49ers who only managed to get to Aaron Rodgers twice. Rodgers played great against San Fran, and considering the Lions have only generated 18 sacks in 10 games… expect Rodgers to have all the time in the world to find Jennings and Driver downfield. Not only does Detroit’s defense suck at rushing the passer, the suck at everything. They are ranked 32nd overall defense, allow the 2nd most total yards allowed, rank last against the pass and give up 116 yards against the pass (20th). Ryan Grant had 129 yards on 21 carries against the 49ers run-stopping crew… he’ll easily have over 100 yards+ against the Lions setting up play-action passes for Rodgers to covert on.
Detroit won last week against Cleveland on the final play of the game after a pass interference penalty against the defense setting up an easy one yard strike from Stafford. Unfortunately Stafford took a HUGE hit on the play when the penalty occurred and dislocated his shoulder. Stafford is not expected to play and Calvin Johnson is listed as doubted. Even though Kampman and Harris went down last week with season ending injuries for the Green Bay defense, there is no way an old Dante Culpepper is going to be able to do anything productive against a 7th ranked pass and 4th ranked rush defense. Certainly won’t be in Culpeppers favour that Detroit has allowed 30 sacks in 10 games. No Calvin Johnson + No Matt Stafford = No Win/No Cover
The Packers have won 16 of the last 18 meetings between these division foes, and the Lions are 1-6 against the spread as a Thanksgiving day host since 2002. Scores of some of their previous Thanksgiving games; 37-26, 27-10, 27-7, 41-9, and 41-10. Average losing margin of 22.2 points. Packers all the way.
