What happened to the Chargers defense tonight?

I am wondering because I am confused. I honestly always felt they had a top 5 defense.

However, this is the first time I can remember seeing their defense dominated and shredded like this.

Or is it the fact that the Steelers offensive line is this good? Someone voice in here please.

I have never seen a team contain Castillo as well as the Steelers did tonight and it seemed like the chargers could not get a single stop all night. There was absolutely no pressure or push from the dline tonight it seemed like.

no jamal wall williams anchoring the 3-4...lot of young guys up front. they had problems getting teams off the field last year too. comes from no pressure, they need merriman healthy

hmm they are good on paper but have underachieved since opening night vs the raiders

their secondary is the weak link and ben did get decent protection

steelers have an average oline, but they played well toinight, especially in run block

then again the steelers oline is revamped and maybe they are better then past results suggest

That's who I noticed was missing.

For some reason I was mistaking him for Castillo and Castillo was getting absolutely manhandled tonight. Castillo is not by any means the same size as Jamal Williams.

Okay, makes sense now. I had a long weekend at work.

thanks.

With that being said. It makes sense now... So this is prob goin to be a consistent problem for the Charger D until he gets healthy

They got found out by a good team in Pittsburgh. BUT, Pittsburghs D was terrible. Maybe it has alot to do with Troy Polamalu being out.

The D is horrible! I disagree Romo, the secondary is not the weakness at all! It i sthe front seven, they get blown off the ball and have no pash rush. Jammer has been great, you never here his name because they hardly throw his way. Cromartie is a bit more up and down, but when QBs have all day to throw it will be a problem.

This team has zero creativity with its blitz schemes and cannot get any pressure with a standard rush defense. This D is killing this team again. The D cannot get the ball back to the offense. I knew when we scored with 5 minutes left that the offense would not have a shot and I was right. It is disappointing.

Way bigger problems than Merriman not being healthy and Jamal being out.

i don't think you should read too much into that performance. The Steelers were coming off 2 ugly losses and were back home on a prime time night game.

They are the SB champs and for a half showed what they could do. I'm pretty sure nobody can stop any good team when the emotional factors run that high. By 2nd half however, things changed.

I honestly would be very worried if I were a Steeler fan, their edge is gone imo. That's not to say they aren't a terrific team - they are - but the super bowl win took away their extra edge imo.

they arent going to have a good record. That defense will give up 30 points to the Giants, Eagles and Cowboys no problem.

SD has underachieved for years now. They have a lot of talent but they can not get the job done. Rivers is horrible and doesn't carry the leadership skills to win a SuperBowl. Their defense is horrible and I believe that at the age of 47 I could have ran for a 100+ yards. And I have this team in pick contest to win it all. I believe I can use this ticket for starting a fire in my fire place.
