Why do people talk about Marshawn Lynch....

as if he is anything more than a Top 40 Running Back in this league?

Am I missing something? Did he find some ability somewhere that made him the be all and end all of the available running backs at some point this season?

His rookie year, in only 13 games:
280 ATT 1115 Yards 4.0 Avg 7 TD

2nd Year in only 15 Games
250 ATT 1036 Yards 4.1 Avg 8 TD

On a shit team, with one of the worst offensive lines in the league. He is a very capable back and can do it all. Catches out of the backfield, very good blocker and is hard nosed. Top 40? His first 2 years he was top 15 on one of the worst teams in the league. And I think he is still capable of being that back if he can stay healthy, and out of trouble which both have issues in the past.

thats my point though, you see tons of success stories from backups that no one knows about (Arian Foster, Ryan Grant), why so much hype for someone we have seen top out at 2.7 ypc.....

the 2.7 obviously an exaggeration, but while you poo-poo his offense he played on, you ignore the fact that he was the focal point of those offenses given every opportunity to make them better, and he did not do it.....

out of the league in a year.....

Lynch wasn't even the top back on Buffalo. Fred Jackson average 4.5 yards a carry, and was a better all around back. Thats why Buffalo got rid of him as well as his bad attitude. ie Loaded gun in the car, missed practice and all around bad team attitude.
