Why the public is all over the dogs

Why is the public all over the underdogs? Is it because all four underdogs covered in the division playoffs last year?

I'm leaning towards the favorites at this point, but may change my mind. Historically, Division Round results have trended toward the home
favorites, with lots of games resulting in one-sided blow-outs.
