Question Will there be a 2011 NFL Season? Lockout? International Football League?

"Will there be a NFL season in 2011? That question is sure to come up more and more unless there is a new agreement signed between NFL owners and players. There is a good chance that there will be a lockout of NFL players in 2011 by the team owners. And of course the NFL players could choose to strike in 2011 which amounts to the same thing, no pro football in 2011, at least for a while. From a football fan's perspective a 2011 NFL strike would be easier to deal with. The players would probably give in before the owners do. A lockout by the owners would possibly give them more juice than the players, and would last longer in my opinion. Especially if there are replacement games and NFL players cross the picket line as many would. Both sides of the 2011 NFL labor disagreement will try to make themselves look good. What it comes down to of course is greed on both sides. Money talks and you know what walks. A 18 game regular season NFL schedule may also come about after the new NFL player's agreement is signed. The owners want it for the revenue and most fans want it so we can watch more pro football games." - Randy Inman

Shit I hit wrong one by mistake. I don't think there will be a lockout. There will be a season & they will go International.

There will be a lockout in March/April. There will be a new collective bargaining agreement in place by late July early August and their will be a 2011 NFL season(may start a week or two late but there will be a full season)

NFL owners and NFL players may not look like the brightest bulbs in the world, however, both understand that they are not going to ruin a great thing they have going right now.

Quote of the Week III

"We play enough games. We have a system that works. Why add [games]?''

-- Steelers chairman emeritus Dan Rooney, now the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland, to a small group of reporters in Pittsburgh Friday, commenting on his opposition to the NFL discussing increasing the number of regular-season games from 16 to 18.

Rooney, because of his diplomatic job, is not a part of the negotiating committee working on a new collective bargaining agreement. But I wish he were. The league needs more influential voices of reason to challenge the cockamamie idea of adding games in an era when concussions and injuries make it obvious that more games will dilute the quality of the product.

There will be a lockout, and unless you believe that the over-educated players in the league have been saving their paychecks instead of buying rims and paying off rape victims, the union will cave due to pressure from its membership of terrified players shortly after the checks stop rolling in.........

I haven't followed what's going on with that and doubt I will...but if they don't play join us in the CFL Forum for a mix of NCAA-NFL brand of Canadian Football at it's best. Season starts late June.

I think there will be a lockout, but that it will end before the season starts.
