Woodson Defensive player of the year

The Associated Press has named Packers CB Charles Woodson the Defensive Player of the Year.
Rather surprisingly, his 28 votes doubled the number received by Jets CB Darrelle Revis. Woodson, still dominant at age 33, tied for the NFL lead with nine interceptions, forced four fumbles, broke up 18 passes, and returned three of his picks for touchdowns. Making the transition from press corner to a zone scheme, Woodson helped Green Bay finish the regular season No. 5 overall in pass defense under first-year coordinator Dom Capers.

As a Michigan fan, I long for the days of 1997 with him on the field. Seems like it was 100 years ago with the current state of the program.

Woodson did have a great year. He may not have many more like this, so that's probably why they gave it to him. Revis will have his time in the spotlight, trust me. Revis is the best corner in the league, bar none.

Not really sure why Revis should have won??? Woodson had a great year and Packers D was legit....AZ game just changes perspective.

Show me stats that Revis was better than Woodson? Shut down corner only concerns yardage. Not sacks, forced fumbles, INT TD's....etc

Revis has faced the following receivers: Andre Johnson, Randy Moss (twice), Ocho Loco (twice), Steve Smith, Reggie Wayne, TO (twice), and Marques Colston. Not one of these guys had more than 35 yards receiving against him. When you consider that the Jets blitz more than any team in the league, that's really impressive. Revis shuts down every elite WR he faces. Woodson . . . not so much (i.e. playoff game against Fitzgerald and the Cards)
