2nd half lines

I dont do a lot of live betting or halftime lines but can anyone explain why oddsmakers make teams that are leading have easy spreads for the 2nd half... like a week ago the Lakers were leading by about 10-15 at halftime against the clippers i think and i saw the halftime line at a pick em so i jumped on it cuz the lakers were easily the better team... now again the suns were up 8 at halftime and the 2nd half line was at -0.5 pheonix... and im sure the oddsmakers know more ppl would be willing to bet on pheonix than new jersey so why do they make the spread so easy to beat?

betting is never easy my friend. when teams are up with lead a few things can happen in the 2nd half. they start taking it easier and play relaxed allowing the team trailing to make a fun. they may put in subs near the end of the game and the other team makes a run. just my 2 cents.

too many runs in the NBA for halftime lines to ever be easy.

lot of chances for a backdoor cover too.

you have to remember that momentum is basically non existent once the 2nd half starts as there has been a 20 minute delay in action, not to mention despite the team you're on being up 15, it's tied 0-0. many times the lines that seem too good to be true are the ones that end up burning you the most.

well im 2-0 so far with these 2nd half lines... ill keep at it... id understand if they just split the suns game spread for their 2nd half lines... so since they were -8 favourites last night, they shouldve made the 2nd half line -4... i dont get why they make the better team thats been playing better in the game only -0.5 favourites, yea the 2nd half could be completely different with the suns resting players but the pacers couldve easily done the same if they started getting blown out

i think its a couple things.

if the game is closer than the score, Vegas might be trying to keep the line close so people dont "middle".

Also, with the Lakers, if theyre up 14, in the 4th they should probably be taking out starters earlier than normal allowing for a potential backdoor cover and thats what is on everyones mind.

If you're iwnning keep it up.

Hmm depending on the teams of course I generally will lay my bet according to the initial line. Although it wouldn't have worked out in neither of those bets I found this to be quite profitable but again I wouldn't just throw my money down blindly and probably wouldn't have done it in either one of those instances because the losing clubs are quite weak. I found this works pretty good in college basketball in certain scenarios. But like anything in second half bets you need to look at starting lines and pick your spots. Remember Vegas doesn't like to lose so their opening lines are generally pretty close in most cases hell that is why there is a spread.
