Allen Iverson being traded to Detroit

The shakeup promised by Detroit Pistons president Joe Dumars after last season's Eastern Conference finals has materialized just two games into the new season.
The Pistons have reached an agreement in principle with the Denver Nuggets to acquire guard Allen Iverson in exchange for Detroit mainstays Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess, club sources told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith.

Young center Cheikh Samb, selected by the Los Angeles Lakers for the Pistons with the 51st overall pick in the 2006 draft, will also be going to Denver in the deal, reports ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

The trade has not been finalized, but sources close to the process told ESPN.com that a trade call with the league office is forthcoming to make the deal official later Monday.

Pistons are dumping salary. Iverson and Rasheed are in the last years of their deals and Billups just signed a long term 50 million dollar deal I believe. Nuggets might just buyout McDyess allowing the Pistons to resign him in 30 days.

Dumars is just getting ready to blow up the team without a full rebuild job.....with Iverson this year they should still be very competitive.

One thing I can say is having a guy like Dumars as a GM is that you can atleast sleep well knowing he is acting on some sort of a thought out plan and not just screwing around for the sake of screwing around.

I trust Dumars will get this team rebuilt quickly for another run in th every near future like he did 7 years ago.
