Can the New York Knicks keep the winning run going? - Sunday night action

Nick Shiambouros picks the best bets from Sunday night's NBA action

The Miami Heat thrashed the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-90 in a one-sided affair on Thursday night with the great LeBron James put on a show against his former team scoring 38 points with eight assists. The Cleveland faithful heckled James from the opening tip but the great man took it all in his stride as he put the Cavs to the sword in style. This was without doubt the best performance of the season from Miami but they are still a work in progress. It will take a few more performances like this to convince me that they are championship material.

Over in the Western Conference the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings 113-80 late on Friday night. This was a welcome return to form for the Lakers who had dropped four straight games as they crushed the Kings with a scintillating display of basketball. This was a huge team effort with every Laker in the rotation scoring at least one bucket. The Lakers still look like the team to beat in the west.

There are some very interesting games taking place this weekend as the season rolls along. On Sunday the in-form Boston Celtics travel to the New Jersey Nets. The Celtics are in rampant form and are leading the Eastern Conference with a record of 15-4. The great Kevin Garnett is having a superb year for Boston and retains the enthusiasm of a teenager. Point guard Rajon Rondo is another Boston player in fine form. This young man has developed in to one of the best point guards in the league with his devastating speed and outstanding passing skills.

The Nets have had another poor start to the season. This disappointing team has a record of 6-14 and is in for another tough year.
I think Boston could easily run up the score against New Jersey. They should be priced around [1.8] with the advertised handicap.

The Toronto Raptors are also in action on Sunday when they play host to the New York Knicks. The Raptors lost power forward Chris Bosh to Miami during the summer but have started the season fairly well without him. They are currently in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 8-11.
This is a young team with some promising talent in the rotation. I have been very impressed with DeMar DeRozan who is in his second season as a professional. He is a powerhouse underneath the basket and is a huge asset to this team.
