Congratulations Boston.......you
......bought a Championship.
I know I sound bitter, and I really had no financial reason to root for either team, but I did want the Lakers to win. Boston was the worst team in the league last year and now they are the best? Why? Because all their players improved? No, because you bought a team that can win. All you fans in Boston can boast all you want but the fact of the matter is, if you did not go and buy Garnett and Allen, you would still suck just like you did last year. I"m not a huge Lakers fan, but I did want to see Kobe win one without Shaq, and while you can say the Lakers went out and got a guy (Gasol) too, he is nowhere near Garnett and probaby nowhere near Allen either. Live it up but all I can say again is....worst team in the league last year...now the best. You must be real proud of your team...

Actually, being from a small market town (Milwaukee) I bitch the same about the Yankees and the Red Sox and the Cubs. It's hard to be a Brewers and a Bucks fan when they have 1/10th the payroll of most big market teams, but I do anyways and occasionally I will whine but it's just because I wish the playing field was more fair.
In football it is different, but basketball and baseball you constantly see these ridiculous trades that stack teams so it is not even fair. Yes, underdogs do come through, but still, it is becoming a joke. Show me a team that builds a championship team over years of smart drafting, risky trades, and maybe an offseason veteran pickup, and you will impress me. Show me a team that was pathetic like Boston was last year, go out and buy 2 of the best players in the league and then win it all, and it maes me not want to even watch the game anymore. Call me what you want but I am just sick of it all. P.S. Lakers did stink up the joint in this series though. Their is no excusing that. Gasol was invisible and Kobe played like a little bitch. Makes me wonder if he will ever win another one.

but thats the beauty of it..the most expensive team or the most hyped one hardly wins it all every year. Take a look at espn experts pick in the beginning of every year and see if any of them get it right. You have to have everything aligned and extremely lucky to win it all..congrats boston fans..must be nice to have 3 dominant sports team.

I guess part of my anger is also that I have just never liked Garnett. I am happy for Ray Allen though. I'll give you that Celtics fans. When he was with the Bucks he came within 1 Glenn Robinson jump shot of making the NBA finals and now he not only got their, but won it all. Good job Ray. Garnett, you can eat my polish sausage.

Ya know...I've been hearing this "you bought a great team" thing for awhile and it makes NO sense to me. Like Dolphins mentioned there is a salary cap in place in the NBA and NFL (NHL too but who cares). Its not like the Yankees or for that matter the Red Sox) who can go out and sign the best free agents out there with a seemingly unlimited payroll.
Besides, if nothing else karma should be on our side seeing how we lost out on what shuld have been 3 great players in Len Bias, Reggie Lewis, and of course the Tim Duncan debacle. |
