EdgeOnOdds: Friday NBA
Washington Wizards @ Cleveland Cavaliers
Pick: Washington Wizards +3
Reasoning: The Cleveland Cavs are playing tonight with only 8 active players. No it’s not the measles but it’s the after effects from the 11 man deal that sent players flying around the league. Donyell Marshal, Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Ira Newble, Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown will not participate in tonight’s game leaving the Cavs. Eric Snow and Damon Jones are expected to fill out the starting lineup tonight for Cleveland. Off the bench Cleveland will have Eric Snow and two D League players who were called up earlier today. On the other hand Washington held steady at the trade deadline and are looking to turn their losing streak around. The Wizards have dropped 9 of their last 10 games SU and 7 of their last 10 ATS. I look for them to push the tempo against a very short handed Cavs team. In the trades Cleveland lost some great defenders. Eric Snow and Damon Jones are not known for defense. Washington should be able to stray away from their poor perimeter shooting and take it strong to the basket with Jamison, Blatche and Haywood. Caron Butler could see time in this game coming off his hip flexor injury. Cleveland will not be able to D up as hard with the threat that foul trouble poses in their situation. The Wizards play great in the small road underdog trend winning and covering 5 of their last 7 games. The Wiz are also 8-2 coming off of a double digit loss in their previous game. With 82% of the public falling into the new looks Cavs trap, I will gladly take Washington plus the points.
