Ending of the OKC/DAL game

WOW... bizarre. Tell me someone else noticed...

O/U is 193. Durant is holding the ball letting the clock run out with number at 191. He hands the ball to Carlisle and they call it out of bounds Dallas ball.

Dallas gets it goes down court and hits a 3 putting it over the number. Craziest thing is they did not even show the shot, replay was going on.

wow.

OUCH.

Yeah because it was his 1st NBA game ever and he has no clue how the horn sounds ending it.

I call bullshit and someone knew someone who needed the OVER and he couldnt shoot with Dallas not D'ing up so he throws it out of bounds without actually throwing it out of bounds and Dallas fires it up.

Same thing with the fouling at the end of games sometimes when the game is really out of hand anyways.......these players know the totals and somehow or another are someway involved.

I always believed the NBA had its fair share of "fixing", but after reading the Donehy book I believe anything is possible. Bullshit Durant thought the game was over....Dallas down 7 with a few ticks. They normally dribble the clock out....

thats why they have so many timeouts towards the end of games. assistant coaches or other bench players are whispering the spreads and totals to these guys

I didn't watch this game. But after watching the end of the Celtics/Spurs and Lakers/Suns games last night, I have to admit, I am finally starting to believe the people who cry fix all the time. I was lucky to be on the right side for both, but they were real shady, and the way you guys describe the ending to this game, I wouldn't doubt it one bit.

I think they do it with clear minds because 100% of the time Ive seen shady endings its always involved the total.

They probably think its ok as long as the outcome of the game is decided whats the harm with a few more or less points.

Ive seen coaches/players start fouling down 12 with just over a minute left and they drag the game out that way.

If a team is really trying to make a comeback usually they fire a 3 when down 6 and make a real attempt at a steal.

But usually when they want points they drive to the hoop and take the easy 2 and then casually foul the best foul shooter on the other team instead of trying for a steal.

I didnt see this specific game but for him to say he thought the game was over is asinine.

i saw spurs game and i saw the suns game .. .neither were anything like this ... spurs had about 0.4 seconds to foul and they just didnt call it, cant blame refs for that ...

suns were down 4 (2 possessions) and tried to foul but the lakers avoided it ... suns woulda had to foul with about 2 seconds left and they didnt since they were down 2 scores.

but tonight ... tonight was just flat out weird ... he handed him the ball .. then the mavs shoot the 3 ... and in his interview after the game when asked why he handed the ball to the coach he said ... 'i dunno, sense of humor i guess, but we played well tonight, our D stepped up...' blah blah blah ... he completely dodged the question and averted the attention off that play.

The problem with this "fix" cry is......Why would Durant care about the total? Saying Durant is in on the fix is really really different than the Donaghy book.

Who is to say that once the game was decided someone knew someone who was on the OVER on either side.

It could be one of their boys to some dude on the end of the bench to some coach or some relative of some player or coach.

IMO once they feel the game has been decided on the court they might turn their attention to what someone possibly needs and try to make it happen in some way or another. Again this is speculation but when a guy says he thought the game was over and then sheepishly avoids the question after the game and the magically goes from UNDER to OVER gamblers like us raise an eyebrow.

I've seen this shady shit happen plenty of times regarding totals on both the college and the pro level and quite possibly they dont view it as anything wrong maybe because they arent influencing the outcome.....just the total score. Isnt that why Donaghy didnt think he was doing anything wrong because he was just controlling the total & not the side?

Who knows what they tell themselves to help them sleep at night if they even think doctoring a total is wrong or not.

For me the Donahgy book confirmed my suspicions that anything is possible in the NBA. If you haven't read it please do so, its a good read and pretty darn interesting. For many years in hoops my feeling was the game totals were influenced by outside factors. I'm not specifically saying Durant is on the take, but his part in the game ending was very odd.
