Free Agency Officially Starts at Midnight, predictions?

Saw a report today on ESPN that the Nuggets are open to trading Melo so that adds a little kink into free agency.

Lebron- Chicago
Wade- Miami
Dirk- Dallas
Bosh- Chicago
Pierce- Celtics
Johnson- Knicks
Amare- Miami
Gay- Clippers
Lee- Nets
Boozer- Knicks
Melo trade destination- No Clue

And as intriguing as it would be to watch Wade, Lebron and Bosh all together, I really hope it does not happen. Reasons being they will #1 become the Yankees of the NBA, #2 I do not want to watch every celebrity jump on their bandwagon #3 I don't want to see Lebron win a championship, and with the 3 of these guys I don't see how they could not in the next 2 years.

Amare has just officially opted out of his final years of his contract.

Dallas for Lebron, Bosh, and Dirk? They have no cap room. Would have to be sign and trade deals. Would much rather see this than Wade, Bosh and Lebron in Miami to be honest, but much more far fetched, there is no possible way they could afford that, nor could the Knicks pay Johnson, Melo, Lee, and Amare.

this is so hyped up one of the local sports talk radio stations is bumping synidacted programing to do a special show dedicated to free agency starting at 11 pm. Guessing in regards to the Wolves and free agency might not last longer than 15 minutes.

Interesting article on ESPN about the finances of these teams and what they can afford, puts into better prospective of what is realistic for each team, and I think many of us including myself are over estimating what these teams are capable of getting.
http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/p...p-room-summary

For those who dont want to read it, as it stands right now (mind you teams have pretty much reached the maximum of what they are capable of dumping to free up any more space, as explained in the article), this is what the teams can afford.

Knicks 2.06 Max Contracts (eddy curry invoked his player option, killing the chances for 3mc)

Nets 1.81 MC (Kris Humphries like Curry, invoked his option killing the chances of 2 mc)

Bulls 1.76 MC (would need to trade Deng to get the room for 2 mc)

Miami 1.67 MC (2.64 if Wade Leaves) Would need to trade Beasley and Chalmbers for a couple Gatorades and convince 1 of the 3 (LBJ, Wade, or Bosh) to take less than a MC.

LAC 1.02 MC Nothing to get to 2 mcs

SAC .93 MC No space for 1 mc

MIL .93 MC (can get 1 mc if they waive Delfino)

BOS .67 MC (if rasheed stays retired, and the Cs drop Gaffney and Lafeyyte they could get 1 mc)

Wash .45 No space for 1 mc

Dallas- Would have to be a sign in trade with current team, No cap space (ie Lebron signs with Clev traded to Dallas)

I agree I just hope that some things start happening right away because I dont want to hear any more updates of what LBJ is having for breakfast.

In other news, John Salmons has opted out of his contract today. Could be a nice piece for a team looking for some extra scoring.

i think we are still going to be waiting a little while before any big names commit... even Joe Johnson would be wise to wait, because if Chicago or Miami or the Nets can't get the guys they want, JJ will be the guy they go after as the consolation prize... don't really see how it's in his best interest to sign before seeing how things will play out...

personally think it is down to Chicago or New Jersey for Lebron... Bulls are the place where he is most likely to get titles... Nets are the place where he is most likely to get rich... well, more rich...

in Miami he can get rings, but they will come with an asterisk... doubt he wants that...

either way, i will be surprised if anything big happens right away...

I agree I dont think anything is going to happen all that soon, but one can hope. LBJ did say he wanted to make a decision by July 7, I find that unlikely. I do think Joe Johnson has a lot to gain by waiting as do many others, but you can only wait until the right oppurtunity presents itself otherwise you could hurt yourself more than anything, like getting stuck with the Clippers.
