And it’s not like the 27-2 SU Celtics can’t score either as during their current 19-game win streak they’re averaging 107 ppg on 51.1% shooting. And it’s no longer just the Big 3 of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce as point guard Rajon Rondo (11.6 ppg, 7.4 apg, 2.4 spg) is shooting 54% from the floor this year and is playing as consistently as anyone in the league. The Lakers’ Derek Fisher can’t keep up with Rondo and with Jordan Farmer out with a knee injury, L.A. is at a clear disadvantage at this important position on the floor. Yes, big man Andrew Bynum is back for L.A. after missing the finals last summer, but Boston beat L.A. twice by double digits with Bynum in the lineup last year including a 110-91 win in La-La Land.

They’re 10-16 when laying points this year and the bottom line is that while L.A. is very good, at this stage Boston is just flat out great. This game will be in doubt going to the final five minutes, but then the trash-talking C’s will up their defensive intensity up a notch in winning this holiday special outright!
