I cried when they closed the Stardust, and weeped when the blew up the DI

Now the Sahara is closing.......

It wasn't long ago that the casino floors were all table games with a few slot machines for the wives, now it's all slot machines and a few tables for the old schoolers. It's the dumbing down of America on full display friends.

We visited the old hotel today and I got a tray of chips for my poker table at home and a shot glass to drink shots out of.

It's a sad day

Take Oklahoma City +6 tommarow night guys..It's a sure thing, and I'll be home to call the game

You guys gotta excuse me now..I'm getting a little emotional.. I think I plugged my first prostitute at The Sahara, or maybe it was the Sands..Either way..It's the end of an era

End of an era for Sin City as The Sahara, the grand old lady of The Strip, announces closing time | Mail Online

DI was my fav

A very close friend was the main host there in the 60's. He had a $1,000,000 fund that was to be used for the High Rollers. In the 70's we would go there and he would get comped all over town..best of everything suites, food, booze, shows..everything but tips, funds for gaming and pussy. The President of the MGM was a close friend of his. We got a personal tour of the place just before completion and were asked if we wanted to partake in the interview process of the girls looking for show jobs.

I recall one afternoon when 4 of us, ran up a $1,000 bar tab, doing an interview process of our own.

That's when Vegas was fun

How bout it, now it's Disney World-They used to treat you like a king and everything was cheap or free.

I played my first money game on the Desert Inn course, I won a bucket of quarters. It was a big bucket. I could'nt hardly carry it.

The El Cortez is nice

Just kidding..My brother did his UNLV Hotel Managment internship there and he noticed the patterns in the carpet moving..He mentioned it to someone and they said "those are carpet fleas- were infested"..lol

Back in the day Circus Circus was nice..I wouldn't walk in there without a gun nowadays

The DI held what they called a Gold Cup and Country Clubs rom all over the U S would send teams. It was an awesome time. Fancy dinners every night. One was my favorite. A table about 30' long with shrimp, baby lobster tails, and crab claws, all piled on a bed of ice abot 2' tall. If my memory is correct, cost was aout $300 per couple, 3 rounds of golf, a room for 4 nights and comps to the shows, both at the D I and elsewhere. On top of that, wonderful gifts for the women and if your team made the finals, a Green suede sportcoat was given to each player..First place prizes were cash and new golf clubs. Wow, what great memories.

The Nugget is decent. Downtown is a dump, but man I'd sure miss it if it was gone. Every time I'm in Vegas I make sure to go downtown. Spent lots of time down there back in the day. Used to stay at the Vegas Club and Plaza 20 years ago...

I remember when you could ask the pit boss for cocaine and a woman and he'd get it/her for you...Ask for that kinda comp now and they look at you like you're insane...It just ain't the same now..It used to be wide open, anything goes
