Lakers get Adam Morrison...

... for Vladamir Radmanovic. This is pretty interesting. You figure with all eyes on Kobe, Morrison is going to have some pretty open shots. He won't really have to create anything for himself.

I like the trade. Any thoughts?

Great trade for a few reasons.

a) Salary Dump: Brown comes off the books this year, and Morrison next year. Gives the Lakers some extra cushion to sign Lamar and Ariza.

b) Vlad was in the doghouse. Phil Jackson for some reason decided he was better off rotting on the bench. I loved Rad personally. He made a lot of boneheaded plays but he was a bomber. He fit really well in that starting line-up. Lakers were first in the league when Vlad was benched for Puke Walton. Either way, Vlad wasn't getting any PT so might as well get rid of him for young talent and cap room.

c) Morrison could flourish. You never know, the kid has good work ethic, and he wants to win. Not to mention he was a lottery pick 2 years ago. He had an ACL tear last year which kept him out, so really this is his 2nd year in the L.

Vlad was in the doghouse off and on for the past few years. The Lakers get some salary cap relief. If the "Morrison Project" doesn't work out, the Lakers should be fine b/c they weren't getting anything from the spot anyway.....

My guess is Phil sees something in Morrison that he wants to use to his advantage....time will tell.

MOrrison and Puke Walton on the same team playing the same position. Looks like the SF spot of opposing teams are going to average 30 a night.

If you step back and look at it, this makes sense for LA. Vlad wasn't playing significant minutes anyway. I guess Phil thinks between a rotation of Ariza and Walton, the 3 spot is fine. When Bynum comes back, Odom can rotate at the 3 as well. After the season, you can dump Morrison where as Vlad still had $$$$ left on his contract. Vlad is a head case. Some days he will light you up, other days he can't throw it in the ocean. He doesn't play D at all, so getting Morrison isn't bad, b/c we're even there.

I'm a Lakers homer and like this trade. Little downside, great upside...

Phil has to see something we're missing regarding Morrison. Maybe playing for a winner will help him, who knows. Only time will tell...

another jump shooter on the lakeshow is a goodthing, and as many of you have pointed out, it's not like the Lakes are going to miss anything from that positions anyway.

if morrison can show a flash of brilliance great. if not, Lakers can salary dump and get one of the 8 million free agents after the season is over. something they couldnt do with vlad.
