Marbury to Boston?

Nearly one year since Stephon Marbury last played in a regular-season game, signals are getting stronger that the New York Knicks' outcast will eventually make his comeback with the Boston Celtics.

That still depends largely on Marbury's ability to negotiate his release from the Knicks after weeks of fruitless and oft-contentious buyout talks, but sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com this week that Boston is Marbury's preferred destination if he manages to become a free agent and that the Celtics are indeed hopeful of signing him.

i agree... but i worry about the chemistry. that guy is not a team player... dont see how he will fit in the team. only up side is that there are plenty of veteran players that can keep him grounded...

I agree with that point Zoom, way too much personality and veterans for him to really disrupt. Its not like hes going to a young team. Hey if he can help though im all for it

As a Laker fan, I love the possibiity of having Marbury become a Celtic. He might be the one guy that can create havoc on the Celtics. On a serious note, I hope the Boston brass doesn't really consider this. Marbury is plain and simple, a "cancer" to any team. Has the guy won anything since high school? There are better options out there with a lot less risk.

Yep they are too much of a team to bring that arse in. I remember when he wanted out of Minny, his reason was that he wanted to be the highest paid player on the team and was jealous that KG made more. Doesn't seem like the guy's changed much.

IMO the team is just too good and too strong willed having now won, that AT WORST he cause a problem and with no risk is cut. AGain, Im not a fan of it, but I also dont think it could ever hurt with the lack of risk and cheap money.

The only risk is the distraction associated with it. I'm not worried about Garnett, Allen, or Pierce, but other folks like Rondo, Powe, Big Baby, and others might be distracted. Not worth even the smallest risk w/ Marbury aka "The Cancer".

is marbury even good anymore? that's a legit question, i haven't seen him play in a legit basketball game in so long that i'm not sure he's even much of an upgrade right now.

Knicks should just keep doing what they are doing. Athletes keep getting away with this crap and it needs to stop.

Marbury is talking with T-Wolves announcers, which brings a question to my mind. What is more pathetic, Marbury, the Timberwolves team, or the fact that i'm watching and listening to this garbage.

I feel the same way, besides why the hell would the Knicks let him go to someone in the Eastern Conference unless he agrees to give up a larger portion of his 2008-09 salary. Lets see how bad he really wants to play ball this year. He talks like he does, but actions speak louder than words. IMO.
