Martingale NBA totals system

I did not originate this system, I think it was poster SSI who came up with it.

WHEN ANY NBA TEAM GOES UNDER THE TOTAL OR OVER THE TOTAL FOR FIVE CONSECUTIVE GAMES, BEGIN BETTING THAT TEAM TO DO THE OPPOSITE. Ex: say Cleveland has gone over the total in each of its last 5 games. You would begin betting it to go under the total. Wager 1 unit. If Cleveland goes under, congratulations, you have won and the series is over. If Cleveland goes under on your first wager, bet them over in the next game, wagering enough to make up for your loss + a one unit profit. Do this until you win, or until you have five consecutive losses. The series ends at either of those points.

So far this season, their have been 11 instances where a team has gone either over or under in 5 consecutive games, and the system has been successful in each. First game won 5 times, second game won 5 times, third game won once.

A 12th series begins tonite. Detroit has gone under the total for 5 consecuitve games, so the wager tonite is on the Pistons to go over the total (189.5 @ Greek).

You can easily find out which teams are candidates at VegasInsider.com I may post teams occassionally or update the season record, but I cannot do so daily.

This "system" has taken 3 losses since 31. may 2008 with 2 off them in the NHL allready (MIN Wild and OTT Senators (yesterday) - The third loss was FLO Marlins 16 games (over) streak during the summer.

Expect to loose atleast 60 units on any loosing series.

My advice, don't chase the game, learn it!

You typically see the Martingale system in Blackjack, its also called Negative Progression. The exponential nature of the bets would eventually bankrupt the player. Also because of betting limits, you would never "break the bank" with this system. In my lifetime, I've easily played over 1 million hands of blackjack and have seen many players use this system. It never works out in the end. Learn how to cap basketball by studying the game etc. and drop these "can't lose" systems. Just my two cents!

Guys, thanks for the advice. We'll see how it goes. By the way, I am not using it in hockey...don't know about baseball. Call me an idiot after I go bankrupt...right now, the system is +11 units.

Never said it "can't lose." Like you, I know of no system, or handicapper for that matter, that "can't lose."

I follow the houston rockets and i usually bet them under after four or more overs. Detriot 5 str8 under, so i think the over looks really go right now.

matter of time, every year there will be 1-2 streaks of an U or O going 9-12 in a row... you better have a huge bankroll to play it with and hope its not the end of the season. look at the streaks then look at the game situation as positive or negative, its just one more tool.... that or have a VERY discipline (big word) catch to it, have a friend who does 6, plays 7th 2 unit and 8th 3 unit, then stops the chase at -5, and waits till next one, doesnt make much but doesnt lose much either... discipline = preserving capital

trust me, IF there was an easy way to make money doing this, everybody would be doing it, and the books would have done something to change, and your trying nothing that hasnt been tried before prob many times over 100 yrs.

Wouldn't a better system be to bet WITH the trend? If a team hits five UNDER in a row, seems like its a safer bet that one out of the next five will be UNDER instead of OVER. When teams go consistently under or over, why would it make sense to bet against the trend? Sure lines get adjusted but we're talking a handful of points, not enough to overcome a style of play. Take a look back and see if a system of betting with the streak after five games wins every time in a five game series. I'd venture a guess that it does.
