Injuries

Boston Celtics Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Tony Allen G/F Out Feb 19 ankle Doubtful for Friday Tony Allen left Thursday night's game after straining the tendon in his surgically repaired right ankle. Allen is listed as doubtful for Friday night's game against Portland. He may miss a few games with this one meaning that the Celtics will rely more on Marquis Daniels to spell the starters. 2/19/2010

Nate Robinson G Out Feb 15 flu Day-to-day Coach Doc Rivers said that he doubts Nate Robinson would be available for Friday's game against the Blazers. Owners shouldn't be living and dying with his status anymore, since his role and upside have been severely cut in Boston. Keep an eye out for updates, though, since the Celtics need a boost, and they may work a bit harder to get him in the fold after winning by just one point over the Kobe-less Lakers. 2/15/2010

Charlotte Bobcats Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

DeSagana Diop F/C Out Feb 18 knee DeSagana Diop will be out up to two weeks with a sprained right knee. Diop was barely playing anyway, but it's just another nibble of good news assuming the Tyrus Thomas to Charlotte deal goes down. 2/18/2010

Alexis Ajinca C Out Feb 2 thumb Out indefinitely Alexis Ajinca underwent successful thumb surgery on Friday and will be in a cast for the next six weeks. Ajinca is a very raw but interesting prospect. He's very raw and needs to improve his strength badly, but he has good hands and touch. Perhaps we'll hear from him next season. 2/2/2010

Chicago Bulls Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Joakim Noah F/C Out Feb 8 foot Day-to-day Joakim Noah (plantar fasciitis) will not travel to New York for Wednesday's game against the Knicks. There's a good chance that Noah will sit out Friday's game in Minnesota as well before being re-evaluated on Saturday. Owners should prepare to be without Noah for up to another week while the Bulls manage the nagging foot problem. 2/8/2010

Jerome James C Out Jan 19 achilles Career likely over The Arlington Daily Herald speculates that the Bulls could add free agent Jerome James if they're looking for a big man. James is still rehabbing from his ruptured Achilles tendon and there's no word on if he's been medically cleared yet. Even if he signs, he'd just fill Aaron Gray's old chair at the end of the bench. 1/19/2009

Cleveland Cavaliers Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Sebastian Telfair G Out Jan 21 groin Targeting March return Sebastian Telfair has reportedly been traded to the Cavaliers in the Antawn Jamison deal. He will have no value in Cleveland and is still recovering from a groin injury. 1/21/2010

Leon Powe F Out Aug 12 knee Targeting All-Star break 2010 Leon Powe (knee) was a full participant during practice Wednesday and may debut for the Cavs as early as Thursday night pending clearance by team trainers. Powe has yet to make his debut this season due to an ACL tear last May. It's hard to say just what kind of impact he will have on the rotation when he does return. Powe's return could be moot if Amare Stoudemire ends up in Cleveland. 8/12/2009

Dallas Mavericks Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Erick Dampier C Out Feb 16 hand Out Indefinitely Erick Dampier will reportedly miss up to a month after having surgery to correct a dislocation on his right middle finger. Hello Brendan Haywood. Damp's fantasy career is done for all intensive purposes, as he figures to be a big body coming off the bench for the rest of his NBA days. He's safe to be cut in all formats. 2/16/2010

Tim Thomas F Out Jan 30 personal Day-to-day Mavericks forward Tim Thomas will miss Monday's game for personal reasons. Consider him day-to-day for now, though his minimal production shouldn't be missed in fantasyland. 1/30/2010

Denver Nuggets Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Chris Andersen F/C Out Feb 18 back Day-to-day Chris Andersen left Thursday's game against the Cavs holding his lower back during the fourth quarter, and did not return. The Nuggets can't afford to lose him over the long-term given how thin they are in the frontcourt. We'll let you know what his status is when we get more information. 2/18/2010

Renaldo Balkman F Out Feb 18 back Renaldo Balkman (back spasms) is still "a week or two" away from a return to the Nuggets' rotation. He's traveling with the team but will be out of the lineup. Several injuries to key front court players would have to take place for Balkman to see time...even if he was playing. 2/18/2010

Detroit Pistons Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Charlie Villanueva F Out Feb 17 back Day-to-day Charlie Villanueva lasted just three minutes Wednesday as he continues to battle back problems. No word of what the specific problem was tonight, but it's looking like a lost season. If you can get Andray Blatche, JaVale McGee or DeAndre Jordan, we'd recommend dumping CV for one of them. 2/17/2010

Golden State Warriors Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Corey Maggette G/F Out Feb 17 hamstring Day-to-day Corey Maggette is expected to have an MRI on his injured hamstring. It's not yet known when the MRI will take place, but the Brandon Roy situation reminds us how tough hamstrings can be. Maggette wasn't traded at the deadline but he's likely looking at missing some games. Anthony Tolliver, C.J. Watson and Anthony Morrow will benefit. 2/17/2010

Monta Ellis G Out Feb 8 knee Day-to-day Monta Ellis went through a light practice on Thursday and is still listed as "day-to-day." It's not often that an athlete can visit Dr. James Andrews and live to tell the tale, but Ellis appears to have done that. Consider him questionable for Friday's game against Utah and those owners that picked up C.J. Watson should be a little concerned already. Don Nelson isn't one to ease guys back into roles off injury. 2/8/2010

Vladimir Radmanovic F Out Feb 2 achilles Day-to-day Warriors forward Vladimir Radmanovic (Achilles) will not return until "well after the All-Star break," according to GM Larry Riley. Don Nelson said recently that Vlad-Rad has been "disgraceful" when he's been given a chance, so the Warriors aren't in any hurry to get him back on the court. 2/2/2010

Anthony Randolph F/C Out Jan 8 ankle Not likely to return this year Don Nelson has changed team rules to institute fines for absenteeism of injured players. The Warriors have had 294 player games missed due to injury this season and often these players haven't bothered to attend the game. Anthony Randolph (ankle) deciding he would rather hit the nightclub scene than watch his own team play may have been the tipping point for Nelson. Our question is "can you blame them"? 1/8/2010

Raja Bell G/F Out Nov 16 wrist Targeting March return Raja Bell had the cast removed from his surgically-repaired wrist in mid-January, and the Warriors are still hopeful that he can contribute at some point this season. "I think he will play again," GM Larry Riley said. "Now, I don’t know how soon, but I think he will play some." In other words, don't go running to pick up Bell in fantasy leagues just yet, but he's worth stashing away if you're in a much deeper league. 11/16/2009

Kelenna Azubuike G/F Out Nov 14 knee Out for the season Kelenna Azubuike will not play again this season, after an MRI revealed that he had a torn left patellar tendon. Azubuike will have surgery this week, with an expected recovery time of five-to-six months. We have faith that the young swingman will come back strong for the beginning of next season -- for now, his minutes (and those of Stephen Jackson) will be absorbed by guys like Anthony Morrow and Corey Maggette. 11/14/2009

Brandan Wright F Out Oct 3 shoulder Targeting Feb. at the earliest Brandan Wright met with Dr. James Andrew in Florida on Thursday and is tentatively scheduled to undergo surgery on his shoulder Friday. Once the surgery is complete, the Warriors will release a timetable for his rehab. 10/3/2009

Houston Rockets Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Jared Jeffries G/F Out Feb 17 knee Day-to-day Rockets acquired Jared Jeffries from the Knicks. Jeffries is a defensive specialist, but the Rockets already have that in Shane Battier. We don't see Jeffries getting as many minutes or producing those solid defensive numbers in Houston. Feel free to drop him in most formats. 2/17/2010

Kyle Lowry G Out Feb 6 ankle Out Tuesday Kyle Lowry (sprained left ankle) will not play on Tuesday or Wednesday. Aaron Brooks will be asked to log a ton of minutes with Lowry out. We'd let Lowry go in almost all formats with so many interesting names (DeAndre Jordan, Craig Smith, Nick Young, JaVale McGee, Andray Blatche) on waivers. 2/6/2010

Yao Ming C Out May 8 foot Out for 2009-10 season Rockets center Yao Ming, out for the season with a foot injury, worked out on Monday and was on the bench for Monday's game. Yao is wearing a protective boot on his right foot but no longer uses crutches. He expects to return sometime next season. 5/8/2009

Indiana Pacers Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

A.J. Price G Out Feb 6 concussion Day-to-day A.J. Price, who suffered a minor concussion on Saturday, is hoping to play on Tuesday against the Bulls. Earl Watson will be back and T.J. Ford had 20 points off the bench Saturday, and coach Jim O'Brien said he's not going to play all three point guards. It looks like Ford is back in the rotation, so don't be surprised if Price moves back to third string on Tuesday. 2/6/2010

Tyler Hansbrough F Out Jan 19 ear Out indefinitely Pacers rookie Tyler Hansbrough (ear infection) is no longer participating in basketball activities and has been ordered by doctors to stop working out. "I do not know if we will have Tyler (after the All-Star break)," said coach Jim O'Brien said. "The fact that he's been told that he is not really allowed to move around, even one-on-none, is a real setback from the conditioning standpoint." 1/19/2010

Jeff Foster F/C Out Dec 19 back Out for regular season Jeff Foster underwent successful lower back surgery on Tuesday and is expected to be ready for next season's training camp. Foster is signed through next season and will make $6.65 million in the final year of his deal. He's already 33 and is nearing the end of the line. 12/19/2009

Los Angeles Clippers Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Baron Davis G Out Feb 17 back Day-to-day Baron Davis will not play on Wednesday due to a 'sore back.' Shockingly, Steve Blake will start in his place without a single practice under his belt. Hopefully Baron's back injury is not related to the Clippers' dismal record, or the fact Marcus Camby was given away for free. He could also be prepping for a trade, although it's hard to imagine the Clips being able to get rid of that contract. 2/17/2010

Travis Outlaw F Out Nov 14 foot Targeting late-season return Travis Outlaw (foot surgery) has been traded to the Clippers as part of the deal for Marcus Camby. Outlaw could have significant fantasy value for the Clippers once he returns from injury, which is expected to happen in late February. Feel free to pick him up if you have some dead weight on your roster, but remember that he'll be fighting for minutes with guys like Rasual Butler and Al Thornton. 11/14/2009

Blake Griffin F Out Oct 25 knee Out indefinitely The Clippers expect Blake Griffin (knee) to return for summer workouts. The 4-6 month timetable remains intact. According to the doctor that performed the two-part patellar tendon surgery, it "couldn't have gone better." We'll hope to get a look at Griffin in Summer League before projecting his impact next season. 10/25/2009

Los Angeles Lakers Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Sasha Vujacic G Out Feb 19 shoulder day-to-day Sasha Vujacic suffered a grade 1 shoulder sprain on his right shoulder during the Lakers loss to the Celtics Thursday night. After the game Vujacic wasn't able to raise his arm over his head and needed help dressing. He has a bit of a layover until his next game (Tuesday) but don't be surprised if he misses some time. 2/19/2010

Luke Walton F Out Feb 15 back Out indefinitely Beat reporter Kevin Ding speculates that Luke Walton (back) could be shelved for the season. Walton is making $4.8 million this season and has another three years worth $16.7 million on his deal. Coach Phil Jackson suggested that Walton could help out in the playoffs, but this sounds like a problem that Luke will have to manage for a very, very long time. 2/15/2010

Kobe Bryant G Out Feb 6 ankle Day-to-day As expected, Kobe Bryant (ankle) will not play in Thursday's game against the Celtics. The Lakers next game is Tuesday, which gives him a full 18 days without playing in game action. There's a lot of time between now and when lineups will need to be set, so check back for updates, but if you had to ask us now we'd venture to guess that he'll play. 2/6/2010

Miami Heat Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Dwyane Wade G Out Feb 17 calf Day-to-day Dwyane Wade (left calf) is almost certainly out of the Heat's next two games, but the injury is not considered serious. This is actually a positive report on Wade. He's listed as day-to-day with a strain, which is great news considering Wade said he heard a "pop" on Wednesday night. This kind of injury can take at least two weeks to heal, but the Heat seem confident their franchise player can return well before that. He's in a walking boot for now and is not using crutches. 2/17/2010

Mario Chalmers G Out Jan 29 thumb Out indefinitely Heat guard Mario Chalmers (thumb) practiced for the first time in nearly three weeks on Monday and could be available for Tuesday's game at Philadelphia. Chalmers partially tore a ligament in his thumb in late January, and has finally shed the brace he was wearing. "It feels pretty good," Chalmers said. "I'm just ready to get back out there and try to help the team." As long as Rafer Alston and Carlos Arroyo are both healthy it's not likely Chalmers will have reliable fantasy value. 1/29/2010

Milwaukee Bucks Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Michael Redd G/F Out Jan 10 knee surgery Out for regular season Michael Redd will have surgery sooner than he did the first time he tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee, giving him more time to rehabilitate. He plans on having surgery in late January or February which would be about a month earlier than last time. "I came back this year when a lot of people thought I couldn’t and I’m going to try it again," said Redd. Godspeed. 1/10/2010

New Jersey Nets Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Tony Battie F/C Out Feb 16 flu Day-to-day Tony Battie (illness) did not travel with the Nets for Tuesday's game. He is day-to-day going forward but doesn't have any fantasy relevance in New Jersey. 2/16/2010

New Orleans Hornets Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Darius Songaila F Out Feb 18 ankle day-to-day Darius Songaila left the game Wednesday night after turning his ankle. "I just rolled and the X-ray came back with no fracture, and that's all I know, " said Songaila. There should be an update on his status later today, but he really shouldn't be in your lineup anyway. 2/18/2010

Chris Paul G Out Jan 29 knee Targeting March return Chris Paul is working out twice a day as he rehabilitates his surgically-repaired knee. This doesn't accelerate his timetable -- he was expected to miss four-to-six weeks after having surgery on Feb. 4. In the meantime, rookie fill-in Darren Collison should remain a solid fantasy PG. 1/29/2010

Ike Diogu F/C Out Oct 1 knee Out indefinitely Ike Diogu will undergo season-ending microfracture surgery on his injured left knee. Diogu hurt the knee in a weightlifting accident this offseason and has not participated in any practices or games this season. The Hornets had signed him to a one-year deal to provide depth in the low post, but the signing, obviously, has turned into a bust. Diogu was not expected to be much of a factor in fantasy leagues this year, even before the injury. 10/1/2009

New York Knicks Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

J.R. Giddens G Out Jan 29 knee Targeting late-February return The Knicks have acquired J.R. Giddens from the Celtics. Giddens just had surgery on his knee earlier this month. He's not on the fantasy radar, even on the Knicks. 1/29/2010

Eddy Curry C Out Jan 2 knee surgery Out until at least March Eddy Curry says he's ready to return from knee surgery, but it doesn't sound like the Knicks have much interest in giving him another chance to play. Curry is convinced that coach Mike D'Antoni won't give him a chance to play. "Odds are I'm not going to play," he said. "For my own sanity I would like to come back." We're not sure why Curry expects to get another chance after playing in just seven games this season and 10 over the last two years. He does, however, plan on exercising his $11.27 million player option for the 2010-11 season, which is not surprising. 1/2/2010

Tracy McGrady G/F Out Dec 26 personal Day-to-day Knicks acquired Tracy McGrady from the Kings via the Rockets. There are reasons to add T-Mac: He's been working out with legendary trainer Tim Grover, beat writer Alan Hahn speculates he'll start and he has a ton to prove. Still, McGrady has appeared in just six games this season and 35 last season. We're skeptical about the kind of impact he'll be able to have out of the gate, but we'd take a flier simply because he's on a talentless Knick team that plays up-tempo. 12/26/2009

Oklahoma City Thunder Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

D.J. White F Out Jan 20 hand Day-to-day Thunder PF D.J. White underwent surgery on a fractured thumb and will be out 6-8 weeks. It's no harm to the Thunder. White has appeared in just eight games this season and has shown an inability to stay healthy. 1/20/2010

Etan Thomas F/C Out Dec 26 flu Day-to-day Etan Thomas is hoping to be traded, according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports. Thomas has fallen out of the rotation and hasn't played since Dec. 4. At 31 and coming off ACL surgery, Thomas is likely incapable of helping out a contender. 12/26/2009

Kyle Weaver G Out Nov 25 shoulder Targeting late March Thunder guard Kyle Weaver will miss at least four months after having surgery to repair his separated shoulder. Tough break for the young guard, though he should at the very least be 100% for next season's opening day. 11/25/2009

Matt Harpring G/F Out Sep 23 ankle Out for season - May retire Injured veteran Matt Harpring (knee) has been traded to the Thunder as part of Tuesday's trade for Eric Maynor. Harpring's career is almost certainly over, and he's currently working as a commentator for NBATV. OKC gains an expiring contract, and Utah gets to slash his salary from their luxury tax. 9/23/2009

Philadelphia 76ers Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Willie Green G Out Feb 16 shoulder Day-to-day Willie Green (shoulder) participated in non-contact drills for the Sixers on Thursday. No word on if he's playing tonight, but this is a positive step. Green has some value if you're looking for a scorer as long as Allen Iverson is out. 2/16/2010

Jason Smith F/C Out Feb 10 ankle Jason Smith (sprained ankle) was a non-participant in practice Wednesday and will be out for both Friday and Saturday's games. The emergence of Jason Smith once again is put on hold. There's no reason he should be in your lineup. 2/10/2010

Francisco Elson C Out Feb 1 middle body Targeting March return The Sixers have acquired backup C Francisco Elson from the Bucks. Elson, who is currently out with a hernia injury, will eventually take Primoz Brezec's role on the Sixers. In other words, he'll take up space in the locker room and at the end of the bench. 2/1/2010

Phoenix Suns Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Leandro Barbosa G Out Jan 22 wrist Targeting late-February return Suns guard Leandro Barbosa could begin conditioning work Tuesday, though he will still miss three-to-five more weeks. Barbosa will be re-examined on Monday. "It was a good decision to do it now, because there was a little damage to the ligament," he said. "It wasn't only the cyst. If we would've waited for the end of the season, maybe it'd be worse." 1/22/2010

Portland Trail Blazers Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Brandon Roy G Out Feb 16 hamstring Day-to-day Brandon Roy (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Friday night's game against the Celtics. There's a lot of speculation that he will be in the lineup so check back before game time. Owners will be crossing their fingers weather they are hoping he will play or that he won't re-aggravate the hamstring if he does. 2/16/2010

Joel Przybilla C Out Dec 22 knee Out for the year Speaking for the first time since undergoing major knee surgery, Joel Przybilla said his goal is to be 100 percent by training camp. Przybilla said he hasn't had a good night sleep since his surgery, can't drive a car and a barely bend his knee. He has a long road ahead of him and is a longshot for fantasy value in 2010-11 anyway with Greg Oden expected back. 12/22/2009

Greg Oden C Out Dec 4 knee Likely done for the season Greg Oden apologized on Tuesday for pictures that have surfaced on the internet showing him completely naked. Embarrassment was Oden's #1 response to this situation, and it's doubtful he'll face any repercussions -- the photos were sent from his cell phone to a 'lady friend' and were obviously meant to be private. 12/4/2009

Sacramento Kings Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Larry Hughes G Out Feb 6 finger Day-to-day Larry Hughes, who was last sidelined due to a big toe injury, has a fractured finger and will rehab it on the East Coast despite his recent trade to Sacramento. Beat writer Jason Jones says he would be shocked if Hughes ever plays for the Kings, and so would we. Jones also passed along that GM Geoff Petrie never intended for Tracy McGrady to play a single game for the Kings, which wasn't particularly surprising, either. 2/6/2010

Toronto Raptors Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Chris Bosh F/C Out Feb 18 ankle Chris Bosh will not play against the Nets on Friday because of a mildly sprained left ankle. Bosh was injured late in Wednesday's loss to the Grizzlies when he came down awkwardly on the ankle. He'll stay behind in Toronto to get treatment and is considered day-to-day for now. Meanwhile, the Raptors clearly weren't shopping Bosh at the trade deadline as his name never even came up in rumors. They'll simply pray he re-signs with them this summer. 2/18/2010

Washington Wizards Pos Status Date Injury Expected Return Details

Javaris Crittenton G Suspended Jan 27 - Done for the season Javaris Crittenton has decided not to appeal his season-long suspension without pay. Crittenton knows he doesn't have a case after pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge. He'll have to turn his reputation around and improve his on-court game in order to be on an NBA roster next season. 1/27/2010

Gilbert Arenas G Suspended Jan 6 - Done for the season Wizards' president Ernie Grunfeld said Thursday that he thinks Gilbert Arenas is "going to be back with us." "If he's going to play, he's going to play here," Grunfeld said about Arenas. Really? With the Wizards in full firesale/rebuilding mode, it would make the most sense for the Wiz to try to void Arenas' contract and move forward. This situation won't be resolved until the summer. 1/6/2010
