NBA 1* (713) HOUSTON ROCKETS -2.5

After a good stretch the Rockets have lost 2 in a row against teams that attack it’s weakness like no other, Memphis and Orlando are just too big and talented in the paint. But that’s not the case tonight as they will be facing a tall but not so talented unit in the paint, Darko’s 9.4ppg don’t scare anybody and while Love is a great rebounder he spends most of the time in the perimeter on the offensive side of the ball. Minnesota is in the top10 in rebounding margin that’s true, however they lose that advantage in possession by turning the ball over at an amazing rate (2nd worst) and that’s bad news against a Rockets team are the 5th best team in that department, which is impressive considering the pace they play.

Minnesota’s problems doesn’t end there, they are also a bottom5 defensive unit and a bottom10 offensive unit. Having won 10 games so far doesn’t make them a team worried about seeding or playoffs as the Rockets who are a few games away from the 8th spot. This game will be played at Houston’s preferred pace and that only makes them a stronger bet as in a fast paced game the height advantage is less noticeable. Consider that Houston has won 10straight games in the series.

NBA 1* (709) WASHINGTON WIZARDS +8

The Wizards have been downright awful on the road, the only team to remain without a win has not fared much better in the ATS department going 5-15, now they go to NY looking for that elusive win. The Knicks have had an up and down season, started looking as the Knicks of the last decade before going on an amazing streak of wins against bad teams that make them look like they were going to challenge the Celtics in the division just before stumbling again and now riding a 6game losing streak things don’t look so promising. They have been one of the best teams ATS at 26-15 overall, especially in the dog role, but that’s not the case tonight as they a huge -8 point favorite.

As favorites the Knicks have been a losing proposition at 8-10 ATS and just 10-8 SU and in this point range (6.5-9points at home) things look uglier as they are just 1-5 ATS and come from a devastating loss to close out a 3game road trip with 3 straight losses to come home play this game and then receive the mighty Heat, certainly a game us and they can look forward too. Making this a game more important to the visitor considering they are ridding great momentum after a huge comeback on Saturday against the Celtics. Not the first victory at home against quality teams they have also beat the Jazz, Grizzlies, Rockets SU and took the Heat, Knicks and Magic down to the wire. Expect the momentum to help the Wizards get closer to their first and much needed road victory against a slumping Knicks. Expect the line to go up by game time.

NBA 1* (701) DETROIT PISTONS @ (702) ORLANDO MAGIC UNDER 193

I like this game to stay under the total of 193 for several reasons, which I will point out in the next paragraphs. The total is set just 1point lower than the game averages for these teams (194ppg for both), Orlando comes from 2 scoring outbursts (112-118) but that was facing top paced teams as the Raptors and Rockets, also they had 19 turnovers combined! Which is well below their average of 14 per game, all of that combined has helped to keep this total good to bet the under. Now they receive a Pistons team that walks up the court (28th pace factor) and in fact they are defending a little better lately, holding their last 4 opponents to under 90points in a stretch that included Boston, Dallas, New Jersey and high-octane Phoenix Suns.

Consider that 7 of *** games in the series have stayed under the total as we see it for tonight’s game, also notes that Orlando is 2-4 under this season as a 9-12 point favorite at home and Detroit comes in with a perfect 0-8 under record as a 9-12 road dog not to mention an 6-17 road under record.
