NBA Weekend Betting: San Antonio set to administer a spanking
Hi guys, some info for your basketball picks
Nick Shiambouros picks the best bets ahead of another busy weekend of NBA basketball The Denver Nuggets thrashed the Miami Heat 130-102 with a clinical display of shooting on Thursday night. Miami were without the great LeBron James who had to sit the game out with a sprained ankle. And lacking their star man, Miami could not contain J.R.Smith and Carmelo Anthony who marched up and down the floor and scored at will. The Heat looked like a completely different team without LeBron on the floor and his presence was sorely missed. The great man should be back in action on Saturday when the Heat travel to Chicago for a date with Derrick Rose and company. The Oklahoma City Thunder were also in action on Thursday and defeated Orlando 125-124 .The sellout crowd in Oklahoma were on their feet as the Thunder held off a late challenge by Orlando to seal the victory. Kevin Durant had another monster evening for Oklahoma scoring an incredible 36 points. This was the fourth win in a row for the Thunder who are playing at a very high level at the moment. There are a couple of fascinating games taking place this weekend as the season rolls along. On Saturday the Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs will probably be without Dirk Nowitzki who has missed the last eight games with a sprained right knee. Dallas have only won two games without the German born superstar on the floor and have slipped to fourth place in the Western Conference. Memphis are currently in ninth place in the west with a record of 18-21. The Grizzlies have been playing well recently and beat Detroit on their home floor on Wednesday. Forward Rudy Gay is having a solid year for Memphis and is averaging more than 21 points per game. My money will be on Memphis in this one. They are playing some high-quality basketball and will be tough to beat on their home floor as their 11-6 record suggests. They should be backed at around [1.9] in the match odds market. On Sunday the in-form San Antonio Spurs take on the Denver Nuggets in Texas. The Spurs are leading the Western Conference with an impressive record of 33-6. This veteran team is playing some outstanding basketball this season and will be very hard to beat. Team leader Tim Duncan is posting career low numbers these days but other players in the rotation have picked up the slack. Point guard Tony Parker and shooting guard Manu Ginobili are having markedly better seasons than last year and have played a huge part in this teams success. The Denver Nuggets come in to this game under a very dark cloud. It appears that superstar guard Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups, masterminds of Miami Heat defeat, could both be traded to the New Jersey Nets as early as next week. This is disastrous news for the Nuggets and I will be shocked if they do not get spanked by San Antonio in this game. It is hard to imagine Denver playing with any enthusiasm at all in these difficult circumstances. The Spurs should be trading at around [1.9] with the advertised handicap and must be backed accordingly. Recommended Wagers: Saturday back Memphis in the match odds market at [1.9] Sunday back San Antonio with advertised handicap at [1.9] |
