Pierce opts out

Add another name to the list of big free agents. Clearly perfect year to opt out of contract with all the teams clearing cap space.
Anyone think Dirk leaves Mavs or Pierce leaves Celts. Pierce can only make 3 million more over 4 yrs staying in Boston.

Is this an indication that Doc won't be returning to Boston? Pretty sure the big 3 would have tried to put together one more run if he was staying...

Pierce opting out tells me he is not staying in Boston...

alot of opt outs are because of the new CBA starting next year. Gotta get that multiple year deal now

personally don't think it has anything to do with Rivers at all. He makes 2.5 million this year and as Seanie says now is the time to get paid.

Even if Doc came back don't think Celtics have another run in them if Bulls or Miami load up.

If Chicago or Miami load up even Orlando won't have much of a shot... my only point with respect to Pierce and Doc, is that Pierce might be willing to settle with that contract if Doc returns, but with Pierce opting out, that means he wants more money, and Boston simply doesn't have the cap space to keep that team in tact while paying Pierce more money...

Way to turn down 21.5 mil PP.....there is one team dumb enough to give Pierce that much money, only with an extension that the wounded one will never see the end of.....

Ladies and Gentleman, you newest LA Clipper......the hometown hero......Paul Pierce.....

He will resign with Boston man, it's just basically an extension. He will turn down 21.5 for 4 years 80+ mil

you might have a point about the CBA... wasn't thinking about that factor. that could be what Dirk is thinking, too... although i would still be surprised if Dirk doesn't examine some of the other options out there...

It would really surprise me if Pierce left Boston...

don't think Pierce is going anywhere either, but if he did it just might be to the Clippers.

I think the only reason why Pierce opted out was because they couldnt agree on a figure for the extension. They are letting Pierce opt into free agency to see his value on the market so they can grasp on what a mid 30's PP is worth now a days so they can agree on a number for a 4 year extension. I highly doubt Pierce leaves Boston he just wants the 4 year deal.
