Post Pistons Making Moves

The Detroit Pistons made the biggest early splash in free agency on Wednesday, agreeing to terms with Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva.

Former Bulls guard Gordon will receive a five-year, $55 million deal, while former Bucks forward Villanueva gets a five-year deal for $35 million, sources told ESPN.com's Chris Broussard.

Gordon rejected deals from Chicago in excess of $50 million each of the past two seasons.

The Associated Press first reported the Villanueva signing.

Free agents can't officially sign with new teams until July 8.

Gordon, who was taken third in the 2004 draft by Chicago, led the Bulls in scoring each of the past four seasons. He averaged 20.4 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting last year. For his career, he has a 21.3 points per game average.

Villanueva, the seventh overall pick by Toronto in 2006 who has played the past three seasons with the Bucks, averaged 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last season.

streaky undersized guard who don't play defense and takes shots when he should differ

no problem w/ him leaving, bulls never contend for a title with HIM as their main scorer/go-to guy

doesn't matter, not looking to win a few playoff games, rather see another team put together that can contend every year

and they would have won at least 2 games without him because just as many big shots as he hit he made up for by taking a shot while double-teamed, turning the ball over or being lazy on defense

the bulls aren't playing to be serious contenders in the coming season. it's all about who they can land in 2010 like a lot of other teams are doing.

sucks to see him go because he was a lot of fun to watch at times but the fact is that he's NO leader and should never be the go-to guy on any championship caliber team which the bulls are looking to become hopefully in the coming 3-5 years or maybe even sooner depending on moves they make the next year or 2.

good for ben gordon, he's a big winner here. he got more money from detroit and in the end that is all that matters to professional athletes. the "desire to take less money to win a championship" or "home team discount" doesn't happen until a player is well past his prime and has already cashed in and set himself up for life. nba is guaranteed cash - you're a fool if you don't get every last dollar you can.

C Ya Ben Gordon...

You're an undersized liabilty on defense, sure you score 30 every few nights but how many garbage shots do you take???

Pair RIP and Ben G. in the backcourt every team will have a field day against them on offense.

Hope Ben fails miserably in Detroit, guy will not get you any closer to a championship Detroit fans
